Upon receiving a request to stop an internal combustion engine, processing circuitry of a fuel supply device opens a relief valve by increasing a fuel pressure in a delivery pipe to a specified pressure or greater before stopping the internal combustion engine. The processing circuitry determines whether a fuel pressure sensor is normal based on a result of comparison between a fuel pressure in the delivery pipe detected by the fuel pressure sensor and a fuel pressure determination value after the fuel pressure in the delivery pipe starts to decrease as a result of opening the relief valve.

Fuel supply device

In the coil spring of the present invention, a helical space defined by a space between coils has a first end region whose space is increased as it extends towards the other side in the axial direction from a first reference point where the space is zero, a reference region whose space is set at a reference value L (L&#x3e;0), and a second end region whose space becomes narrow as it extends toward the other side in the axial direction and zero at a second reference point. The first end region is configured such that the number of turns of the helical space is greater than 1 and the space between coils in a terminal position is greater than the reference value L. The helical space has a first transitional region between the terminal position of the first end region and the reference region, the first transitional region being configured so that the distance of space between coils is reduced from the terminal position of the first end region along the helical shape of the helical space toward the other side in the axial direction and becomes the reference value L.

Coil spring

A coil spring of this invention includes a first end coil part with a first bearing surface facing to the first side in the axial direction, a second end coil part with a second bearing surface facing to the second side in the axial direction and a central coil part connecting the first and second end coil parts. A displacement length in the axial direction from the outer end portion until the inner end portion of the first end coil part is a thickness of a spring wire forming the coil spring so that a space between the outer end portion of the first end coil part and an inner end portion of the central coil part is zero, and a displacement length in the axial direction between the outer end portion of the first end coil part and a point away along the circumferential direction from the outer end portion toward the inner end portion of the first end coil part by a half of turn around the axial line is less than a half of the thickness of the spring wire.

A control device for a motor-driven fuel pump adapted for an internal combustion engine is provided. The fuel pump includes a cylinder, a mover in the cylinder, and an electric actuator configured to move the mover. The control device is configured to perform energization control on the electric actuator to reciprocate the mover so that the fuel pump draws in and discharges fuel. The control device is also configured to control a discharge count and a unit discharge amount based on an operating state of the internal combustion engine. The discharge count is a number of times of discharging fuel from the fuel pump to the fuel pipe during a period between a fuel injection from the fuel injection valve and the next fuel injection, and the unit discharge amount is an amount of fuel for one fuel discharge from the fuel pump.

Control device and control method for fuel pump

A control device for an fuel pump includes an electronic control unit. The fuel pump is an electric fuel pump configured to supply fuel to a fuel pipe to which a fuel injection valve disposed within a cylinder of an engine is coupled. The electronic control unit executes an inter-injection discharge control of executing fuel discharge from the fuel pump at a predetermined timing between an Nth fuel injection and an (N+1)th fuel injection from the fuel injection valve. The electronic control unit changes a discharge ratio in accordance with an operational state of the internal combustion engine during the execution of the inter-injection discharge control. The discharge ratio is a ratio of the number of times of fuel discharge from the high-pressure fuel pump to the number of times of fuel injection from the fuel injection valve.
