A document conveyance device includes a sheet feeding tray, a conveyance mechanism, a discharge tray, a document pressing member and a supporting mechanism. The document pressing member comes into contact with an upper face of the document discharged from a conveyance path and presses the document downward. The supporting mechanism is configured to be provided in the sheet feeding tray, to support the document pressing member, to allow a shifting of the document pressing member according to an operation for shifting the document pressing member in a discharge direction of the document or an opposite direction to the discharge direction and to inhibit the shifting of the document pressing member against a force applied to the document pressing member by the discharged document.

A relay conveyance device includes a discharge unit which discharges a sheet toward a carry-in port, a decurling unit attached to the discharge unit, and a discharge adjustment mechanism capable of adjusting a height direction inclination of the discharge unit. A sheet conveying device includes a correcting unit. The correcting unit corrects displacement of a sheet conveyed from an upstream side conveying path, and conveys the sheet to a downstream side conveying path. The correcting unit includes a first conveying part conveying the sheet, a first moving part moving a first frame supporting the first conveying part and a detecting part detecting a side end edge of the sheet at a reference position without displacement. The first conveying part stops conveyance of the sheet when a leading end of the sheet reaches the detecting part. While the driving of the first conveying part is stopped, the first moving part moves the first frame to move the sheet, and stops movement of the first frame, when detection result of the detecting part is changed, to position the side end edge to the reference position to correct displacement of the sheet.

A sheet conveyance unit includes a sheet inlet port, an inlet guide, and a guide switching mechanism. The inlet guide has an upper guide and a lower guide below the upper guide. The guide switching mechanism switches a position of the inlet guide between a conveyance position at which the upper guide and the lower guide face each other with a first distance and a separation position at which the upper guide and the lower guide are spaced from each other by a second distance greater than the first distance. To connect the sheet conveyance unit to the sheet discharge unit, the inlet guide is disposed to the separation position before the discharge guide is inserted between the upper guide and the lower guide, and is disposed to the conveyance position after the discharge guide is inserted between the upper guide and the lower guide.

A fixing device includes a pressing roller, a rotating member, a heating means, a pressing mechanism, a separation member, a first biasing member and a moving mechanism. The pressing roller has a core metal and an elastic layer. The separation member includes a contact part. The first biasing member is configured to bias the separation member to be rotated in a direction in which the contact part is butted against the rotating member. The first biasing member includes a first end portion by which biasing force is acted on the separation member and a second end portion opposite to the first end portion. The moving mechanism is configured to move the second end portion of the first biasing member in a direction in which the biasing force is decreased, as the core metal approaches the rotating member owing to decrease in rigidity of the elastic layer of the pressing roller.

A sheet conveying device has a supporting frame that supports a pick-up roller and that moves downward when a sheet is fed, a stepping motor that rotates the pick-up roller and moves the supporting frame downward, and a control portion that starts driving the stepping motor when a job is started and then increases a frequency of the pulse signal to a target frequency. The control portion keeps the frequency of the pulse signal not more than &#xbd; of the target frequency at least until the pick-up roller touches the sheet first.

A fixing device includes a fixingmember, a separation member, a movement mechanism, and a pressing member. The fixing member rotates around a rotation axis extended in a rotation axis direction and fixes a toner image on a recording medium. The separation member comes in contact with the fixing member and separates the recording medium from the fixing member. The movement mechanism moves the separation member in the rotation axis direction and within a movement area. The pressing member presses the separation member against the fixing member. A pressing load of the separation member against the fixing member in a case where the separation member is located at a central position of the movement area is lower than a pressing load of the separation member against the fixing member in a case where the separation member is located at both end positions of the movement area.

The paper feeding unit includes a pickup roller, a second shaft portion, a feed roller, a holder, and a stopper. The stopper is swingably supported in the holder, and is configured to change states between a regulation state and a permission state. The regulation state is a state that regulates entrance of the sheet to be loaded in the sheet loading portion into a side of the feed roller side corresponding to the second position of the holder. The permission state is a state that permits entrance of the sheet into the feed roller side corresponding to the first position of the holder. The lock mechanism locks the holder in the second position at a time of non-paper feeding.

An electrostatic latent image developing toner includes toner particles. Each toner particle includes a toner core containing a binder resin, a shell layer coating a surface of the toner core, and needle-like inorganic particulates. Each shell layer contains a thermosetting resin, and the inorganic particulates are present within the shell layer. The inorganic particulates have: an aspect ratio of 1.25 or more and 2.5 or less; and an average major diameter and an average minor diameter of 300 nm or less.

The holding member holds the pinion gear movably in an axial direction of the rotary shaft so that the pinion gear is displaceable between a first position where the rotation of the pinion gear is regulated and a second position where the pinion gear is rotatable. The pinion gear is located at the first position with the holding member detached from the sheet storage portion and located at the second position with the holding member attached to the sheet storage portion.

An electrostatic latent image developing toner includes toner particles. Each toner particle includes a toner core containing a binder resin, a shell layer coating a surface of the toner core, and particulates having a higher hardness than the shell layer. Each shell layer contains a thermosetting resin, and the particulates are present within the shell layer. Preferably, the content of the particulates having a higher hardness than the shell layer is 0.1% by mass or more and 5.0% by mass or less with respect to a total amount of the toner particles.

A fixing device includes a heat rotor with a heat source, a pressure rotor forming a fixing nip with the heat rotor and expandable by heat given from the heat rotor, a drive section configured to rotate the pressure rotor, a control section configured to control the drive section, thus controlling a rotational speed of the pressure rotor, and a heat quantity detecting section configured to determine a quantity of heat from the heat rotor to the pressure rotor since a reference time point when the fixing device transitions from outage to operating state.
