A reversed terminal insertion preventing structure is provided. This structure can detect reversed insertion of a terminal inserted into a connector housing upside down, and also prevent deformation of the terminal. The terminal has two protrusions for preventing reversed insertion. Two guide grooves corresponding to the two protrusions are formed on the inner walls of the terminal receiving chamber of the connector housing. When the protrusions simultaneously come into contact with the end walls of the respective guide grooves, the insertion of the terminal is stopped halfway into the connector housing. On the opposite side from the guide grooves formed on two inner walls perpendicular to each other, two escape grooves for the protrusions are formed for normal insertion.

Reversed terminal insertion preventing structure

A rubber plug includes a tubular body having a cross-sectionally corrugated inner surface including a plurality of conically shaped surfaces, and a plurality of lips formed integrally on and projecting radially outwardly from an outer surface of the tubular body in planes perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the tubular body and including first, second and third lips, the plurality of lips being spaced along the longitudinal axis, wherein a distance between the first lip and the second lip in a direction of the longitudinal axis is different than a distance between the second and third lips in the direction of the longitudinal axis.

In a waterproof connector housing in which a hood portion for fitting with a counter housing is projected from a housing body portion, an elastic seal ring which maintains watertightness with the counter housing is disposed inside the hood portion, and a retaining piece of the elastic seal ring is engaged with the hood portion, a fitting convex portion is projected integrally from an inner face of the hood portion on a contact face in which the hood inner face is contacted with the seal ring, and the elastic seal ring is integrally formed in a state where the fitting convex portion bites the seal ring.

Waterproof connector housing

A connector in which a wire-arranging operation before attachment of a rear holder can be omitted, while securing the function of preventing rearward withdrawal of terminals, thereby enhancing the efficiency of a connector-assembling operation. In the connector, wires are extended outwardly from a rear open portion of a connector housing, and a rear holder for preventing rearward withdrawal of terminals is attached to the rear open portion. The rear holder is slid in a direction perpendicular to a direction of extending of the wires to be attached to the rear open portion, and arranging walls are formed on the rear holder, and extend in the direction of sliding of the rear holder. When the rear holder is attached to the rear open portion, each of the arranging walls is passed between the corresponding ones of the wires extended outwardly from the rear open portion. In the connector, preferably, when the rear holder is attached to the rear open portion, the arranging walls are abutted respectively against rear ends of rubber plugs fitted respectively in terminal receiving chambers. In the connector, preferably, a wire-bending cover for bending the wires is mounted on the rear holder.

Connector with rear holder

There is provided a connector with rear holders in which a hinge, connecting a terminal-retaining rear holder to a connector housing, is prevented from being cut, and also an accidental operation of a lock release arm of the connector housing is prevented. Terminal-retaining rear holders are pivotally connected to corresponding connector housings through hinges. A projected abutment portion for abutting against the corresponding connector housing is formed on an outer wall of each of the rear holders facing the corresponding connector housing in a full open condition of the rear holder. The projected abutment portion of the rear holder is projected in a direction of projecting of a lock release arm of the connector housing.

An inertia locking-type waterproof connector is provided in which male and female connectors having a waterproof packing interposed therebetween are fitted together by an inertia force produced when abutting a retaining projection of an elastic lock arm against an engagement portion for engaging the retaining projection. The inertia locking-type waterproof connector includes a female connector housing, a male connector housing for connection with the female connector housing, and an elastic lock arm provided on one of the male connector housing and the female connector housing and having a retaining projection. An engagement portion is provided on the other of the male connector housing and the female connector housing. The engagement portion engages with the retaining projection. A packing is interposed between the male connector housing and the female connector housing for providing a waterproof seal. The packing includes a seal lip in sliding contact with either the male connector housing or the female connector housing. The retaining projection, engagement portion, and packing are positioned so that, during insertion of the male connector housing into the female connector housing, the initial abutment of the retaining projection with the engagement portion coincides with the initial abutment of the seal lip with either the male connector housing or the female connector housing.

Inertia locking-type waterproof connector

A locking structure of a connector with a waterproof packing to prevent incomplete locking of the connector. The locking structure comprises: a waterproof packing attached to the first connector half; two rows of sealing lips with a first sealing lip and a second sealing lip integrally formed with the waterproof packing, the first sealing lip being taller than the second sealing lip, wherein the second connector half is inserted into the waterproof packing, and slidably contacts the first sealing lip in the first stage and then slidably contacts the second sealing lip to lock the waterproof connector.

Locking structure of waterproof connector

A waterproof connector comprises a male connector housing and an outer hood circumferentially provided on the male connector housing with an annular space therebetween, which contains a seal ring and into which is inserted a hood portion of a mating female connector to be brought into contact with the seal ring. A resilient locking arm of a double support structure is provided inside an outwardly bulged portion of the outer hood such that it is rearwardly supported on the part of the male connector housing and forwardly supported on the part of the outwardly bulged portion. This allows a male connector housing to be locked to a mating connector with an increased force, while making it possible to protect the resilient locking arm from external forces.

Waterproof connector

A water-proofing plug for a connector which comprises: rubber plug including a cylinder having an electric wire inserting hole along the central axis, and a sealing portion 12c formed on the outer surface of one end portion of the cylinder in such a manner that the sealing portion is brought into close contact with the inner surface of a connector housing; and a reinforcing member including base plate having an electric wire inserting hole at the center, and supporting arms extending from both sides of the base plate, is so improved that the end faces of the supporting arms are sloped towards the electric wire inserting hole of the base plate, whereby the water-proofing plug is excellent in water-proofing ability and high in reliability in practical use.

Water-proofing plug for connector

In a connector comprising: a connector housing having a terminal accommodating chamber with a flexible terminal locking extended in the latter; and a terminal having a male tab at the end, which is inserted into the terminal accommodating chamber with the male tab protruded through an opening of the terminal accommodating chamber; a pair of swing preventing protrusions are formed on the inner wall of the terminal accommodating chamber at the end on the side of the opening, which wall is confronted with the terminal locking arm, in such a manner that the protrusions form a hole for insertion of for the male tab, each of the swing preventing protrusions has a first sloped guide surface on the terminal insertion side, and a second sloped guide surface on the side in opposition to the terminal locking arm, and a male tab receivable space, which is relatively wide, is formed using the second sloped surfaces, whereby the terminal can be smoothly inserted into the connector housing without play.

Terminal inserting structure of connector

A connector waterproofing stopper includes a tubular part which in turn has a seal portion in one half thereof and a connecting portion in the other half thereof. The connecting portion has an annular engaging rib in the end portion of the outer peripheral surface thereof. The annular engaging rib includes an engaging surface and, on the opposite side of the engaging surface, a tapered reinforcing portion which extends from the top portion of the annular engaging rib toward the axial direction of the connecting portion. When an external force to pull an electric wire is given to the annular engaging rib, the reinforcing portion prevents the annular engaging rib from inclining to thereby maintain the engagement between the engaging surface and an electric wire connecting terminal.

Connector waterproofing stopper

An improved connector terminal is provided that is capable of being inserted more easily into a terminal accommodating chamber of a connector housing. The connector terminal comprises a wire connecting part and an electric contact part that may be inserted into the terminal accommodating chamber of a connector housing having an opening edge. The electric contact part includes a rectangular cylindrical body having two pairs of opposing walls for a total of four walls and a guide protrusion protruding continually from the tip of at least one of the four walls of the body. The guide protrusion has a guide surface that slides along the opening edge of the connector housing when the electric contact part is inserted into the terminal accommodating chamber. The guide protrusion is structured to protrude from one of the four walls so as to have substantially the same width as the wall width or structured so that a bent guide surface is formed by extending and bending tips of at least two of the four walls that have a width smaller than the width of the respective wall.

Connector terminal

A waterproof connector includes a female connector housing and a cylindrical packing holder. The female connector housing has a peripheral edge of an opening through which a male connector housing is inserted. The packing holder has a peripheral edge of an opening. This peripheral edge contacts the inside of the peripheral edge of the opening in the female connector housing. The peripheral edge of the opening in the packing holder has end portions formed by partially cutting the packing holder. Recesses are formed in the end portions on the peripheral edge of the opening in the packing holder. Projections are formed on portions of the female connector housing, which portions correspond to the end portions of the packing holder. The projections are fitted into the recesses so as to join the packing holder and the female connector housing. When the packing holder is inserted into the female connector housing, the peripheral edge of the opening in the packing holder is joined integrally with the peripheral edge of the opening in the female connector housing. Thus, when the male connector is fitted, it is mated smoothly with the female connector housing without causing the end portions of the peripheral edge of the packing holder to hinder mating.

A connector comprised of a connector housing including first and second chambers, and a terminal which passes through a first aperture provided between the first and second chambers is disclosed. The terminal comprises a base part having a substantially flat bottom, a tab portion extending from an end of the base part so as to be inserted into the first aperture, a first protrusion protruding upwards from the base part, and a second protrusion protruding downwards from the base part, the first chamber having, an upper wall, and a bottom wall, the bottom wall having a groove for receiving the second protrusion of the terminal therein and a step portion defined by the groove, the step portion having a top surface upon which the second protrusion slides so that the tab portion can be guided into the first aperture.
