An image reading apparatus includes a document bed on which a document is placed, an automatic document feeder (an example of an opening/closing member) configured to be opened/closed with respect to the document bed, a rotational supporting section provided at one end of the document bed and rotatably supporting the automatic document feeder with respect to the document bed, and a height adjustment mechanism that adjusts the height of the automatic document feeder relative to the document bed. The rotational supporting section has a holding section fixed to the document bed and a rotary fulcrum section attached to the holding section and being movable in the up-down direction relative to the holding section. The height adjustment mechanism adjusts the height of the rotary fulcrum section relative to the holding section to adjust the height of the automatic document feeder relative to the document bed and overlaps the holding section and the rotary fulcrum section in the vertical direction.

A medium transport device includes a feeding unit that can be disposed at a contact position and a retracted position, a first restriction member that rotates between a restriction position and a release position, and a transport guide positioned on a side opposite to the feeding unit with a transport path interposed therebetween. When the first restriction member is positioned at the restriction position, the first restriction member maintains a state in which the feeding unit is positioned at the retracted position by the tip end contacting the feeding unit. When the first restriction member is positioned at the restriction position, the tip end thereof is positioned closer to the mounting portion side than the position of the rotation axis of the first restriction member in the transport direction.

Medium transport device and image reading apparatus

Provided is an image reading device including: a reading unit reading an image on a document; a carriage moving with the reading unit; a detector included in the carriage and having a predetermined width in a movement direction of the carriage; a detection sensor being in a detection state when the detector is located at a position where the detector faces the detection sensor and being in a non-detection state when the detector is located at a position where the detector does not face the detection sensor; and a control portion configured to perform a positional shift determination operation of determining a positional shift of the carriage, in which, as the positional shift determination operation, the control portion starts to move the carriage when the detection sensor is in the detection state and determines the positional shift of the carriage, based on a moving amount of the carriage.

Image reading device and recording device

An image reading device includes: a first reading unit that is provided at an intermediate position of a transport path and that reads an image of a document transported on the transport path; and a transport unit that is disposed on the transport path further upstream than the first reading unit and that transports the document to the first reading unit. The transport unit includes a third driving roller and third driven rollers that hold the document between the third driving roller and the third driven rollers. The third driving roller is provided on a frame main body, and the third driven rollers are provided on a holder member. When a cover is displaced from a closed position to an open position, the holder member is moved so as to separate the third driven rollers from the third driving roller.

Image reading device

A scanner unit includes a first reading section that reads a medium via a transparent member; and a bracing member that pushes the medium toward the transparent member by a coil spring. The bracing member includes a contact portion coming into contact with the transparent member in a downstream of a first reading region, and a gap forming surface that is positioned in a direction further away from the transparent member than the contact portion, which includes the first reading region, in an upstream of the contact portion, and is formed with a gap in which the medium is configured to be transported between the pushing member and the transparent member. A pressing position of the pushing member by the coil spring is shifted from a position of the contact portion in a medium transporting direction.

Image reading apparatus

An upstream-side unit of a reading unit of an automatic document feeder has protruding portions that protrude toward a surface that forms a document feeding path in a mechanism body unit on both sides of a document in the width direction outside a feeding portion that forms the document feeding path. Positioning of the upstream-side unit provided so as to be rotatable with respect to the mechanism body unit is performed by making protruding portions come in contact with a guide surface of the mechanism body unit, the guide surface forming the document feeding path. By adopting this configuration, because the protruding portions provided on both sides of the document in the width direction outside the document feeding path are used to perform positioning, it is possible to increase the accuracy of clearance for allowing a document to pass through the document feeding path.

Automatic document feeder

A transport device includes a set section, a sheet sensor, and a feeding member. When a detection member does not retract, the sheet sensor outputs an OFF-detection signal. The feeding member is displaced between a feed position and a non-feed position on the basis of the detection signal. At the feed position, the feeding member comes in contact with the sheet set in the set section from above and feeds the sheet toward the downstream side on a transport path. At the non-feed position, the feeding member is separated upward from the feed position. A method, which detects a sheet in the transport device, includes displacing the feeding member from the non-feed position to the feed position, and detecting that the sheet does not exist in the set section when an OFF-detection signal is output from the sheet sensor while the feeding member is positioned at the feed position.

There is provided a tray including a tray main body that can be nipped by a driving roller rotatably driven and a plurality of driven rollers driven to rotate by making contact with the driving roller, the tray main body having a plate shape, a concave portion in which a thin plate shaped body can be set, the concave portion being formed in the tray main body, a fitting convex portion that is fitted in a fitting hole formed in the thin plate shaped body, the fitting convex portion being provided in the concave portion, and a plurality of elastic pieces for holding the thin plate shaped body by elastically making contact with an inner edge of the fitting hole, the elastic pieces being provided along an outer edge of the fitting convex portion.

A recording apparatus according to the invention includes an ink jet recording head that records onto a recording medium; a paper cassette that holds the recording medium in alignment with the vertical direction; an inverting path unit that inverts the transport direction of the recording medium fed out from the paper cassette; and a downstream-side path unit that transports the recording medium from the inverting path unit toward the paper cassette.

A printing apparatus that is a vertical installation type apparatus having a height direction dimension that is larger than at least one of a width direction dimension and a length direction dimension when the printing apparatus is installed, includes an ink cartridge that can be attached to and detached from a printing apparatus body, and an attachment section to which the ink cartridge is attached. The ink cartridge can be attached to and detached from the attachment section from a top surface side of the printing apparatus. The thus-structured printing apparatus allows a user to easily reach the attachment section for the ink cartridge regardless of which face of the printing apparatus is facing the user.

A transport device, which transports a sheet set in a set section toward the downstream side on a transport path, includes a restricting member. The restricting member is provided at a set position of the sheet in the set section, and is displaced to restrict the sheet moving toward the downstream side on the transport path. The restricting member includes a restricting section that comes in contact with a front end of the sheet from the downstream side on the transport path, and is rotatable about a shaft extending along the transport path so as to be displaced between a first position where the restricting section protrudes on the transport path and a second position where the restricting section retracts from the transport path.
