A groove is provided on the third side face, and the groove has a depth varied with position as viewed from the major surface, and has ends not reaching the first and second side face.

A lens barrel includes front, intermediate, and rear barrels that hold front, intermediate and rear lens group, respectively. The relative distances among the barrels vary. The front barrel includes a lens barrier and a barrier actuating member. A barrier drive cam section rotates the barrier actuating member upon relative movement of the barrels. The intermediate barrel includes a first drive source for driving a shutter unit, a second drive source for driving a light amount control unit, and a third drive source for driving the intermediate lens group for image stabilization. The intermediate barrel has a rear lens group clearance section at an outer peripheral portion to avoid interference with a driving mechanism for the rear lens group, and a barrier clearance section adjacent to the first or second drive source in a peripheral portion to avoid interference with the barrier actuating member and the barrier drive cam section.

A lens apparatus capable of efficiently arranging a stop blade, an optical filter and a shutter blade to reduce the size of the apparatus is disclosed. The lens apparatus comprising a lens, a lens holding member which holds the lens, a stop blade which changes an area of a light-passing aperture, an optical filter which inserts and removes with respect to a region opposed to the light-passing aperture and a shutter blade which opens and closes the light-passing aperture. Here, at least one member of the stop blade, the optical filter and the shutter blade is arranged at one end side of the lens holding member and the other member is arranged at the other end side of the lens holding member.

A method of manufacturing a compound semiconductor device comprises forming a scribed groove extending from an edge of a major surface of a laminated body to an internal region on the first major surface. The laminated body has the first major surface and a second major surface and is formed by crystal growth of a compound semiconductor multilayer film on a substrate. The scribed groove is shallow at the edge and deep in the internal region. The method may further comprise separating the laminated body into first and second portions separated by a separation plane including the scribed groove by applying load to the second major surface of the laminated body.
