A liquid crystal display device including first and second substrates, a liquid crystal layer, a pixel electrode, a counter electrode, a first molecule orientation film formed on the first substrate so as to cover the pixel electrode, and a second molecule orientation film formed on the second substrate so as to cover the counter electrode. The pixel electrode includes first micro-electrode patterns extending in a first direction, second micro-electrode patterns extending in a second direction, third micro-electrode patterns extending in a third direction and fourth micro-electrode patterns extending in a fourth direction, wherein the first, second, third and fourth directions are different from one another. When a driving voltage is applied between the pixel and counter electrodes, liquid crystal molecules that are located at the first, second, third and fourth micro-electrode patterns are tilted parallel to a corresponding one of the first, second, third and fourth directions, respectively, when viewed in a plan view.

Liquid crystal display device and method for fabricating the same

A liquid crystal display device including first and second substrates, and a liquid crystal layer sealed therebetween. The device also includes a first electrode formed on the first substrate and a second electrode formed on the second substrate; a first molecule orientation film formed on the first substrate so as to cover the first electrode; a second molecule orientation film formed on the second substrate so as to cover the second electrode; a plurality of micro structures associated with at least one of the first and second electrodes; and a plurality of rough structural patterns associated with at least one of the first and second electrodes. At least some of the micro structures extend generally parallel to each other, and the rough structural patterns extend in directions different from directions in which the micro structures extend.

A liquid crystal display device including first and second substrates, with a liquid crystal layer sealed therebetween. The device also includes a first electrode formed on the first substrate, a second electrode formed on the second substrate, a first molecule orientation film formed on the first substrate so as to cover the first electrode, a second molecule orientation film formed on the second substrate so as to cover the second electrode, and a plurality of micro structures associated with at least one of the first and second electrodes, wherein at least some of the micro structures extend generally parallel to each other. A substrate for a liquid crystal display device, including a pixel electrode formed on the substrate, wherein the pixel electrode includes a micro-cutout pattern defined by a plurality of micro-cutouts extending in four different directions with respect to an extension direction of a rough structural pattern. The substrate also includes a first electrode extending in a first direction, a second electrode extending in a second direction that is approximately perpendicular to the first direction, and a contact hole that electrically connects the pixel electrode and the first electrode. A linearly extending scan electrode and a linearly extending signal electrode are formed on the 1substrate, wherein the scan electrode extends in a direction crossing an extension direction of the signal electrode. Thin film transistor substrate and liquid crystal display

Opening portions (opening patterns) having different arrangement pitches and sizes are formed in first metal film patterns, a first semiconductor film, second metal film patterns, a third insulating film, and the like under a reflective electrode, respectively. These opening portions overlap each other complexly to form fine bumps and dips in the surface of the reflective electrode. Further, the opening portions can be formed in the first metal film patterns, the first semiconductor film, and the second metal film patterns simultaneously with the formation of TFTs. Accordingly, an increase in the number of steps can be avoided.

In structure, there are provided the steps of forming a negative photoresist film on a first insulating film for covering a first island-like semiconductor film, forming a resist mask that has an opening portion in an inner region with respect to a periphery of the first island-like semiconductor film by exposing/developing the negative photoresist film from a back surface side of a transparent substrate, etching the first insulating film in the opening portion of the resist mask, forming a second insulating film for covering the first insulating film and a conductive film thereon, and forming a first gate electrode and a second gate electrode by patterning the conductive film.

The invention relates to a substrate for a liquid crystal display used in a display section of an information apparatus, a liquid crystal display having the same, and a method of manufacturing the same. There is provided a substrate for a liquid crystal display which achieves good display quality with reduced manufacturing steps, a liquid crystal display having the same, and a method of manufacturing the same. TFTs are formed on a glass substrate. A protective film is formed on the TFTs, and a resist pattern is formed on the protective film, the resist pattern having openings located above source electrodes, gate bus line terminals, and drain bus line terminals. The resist pattern is baked at a baking temperature of 200 (or more after irradiating the surface thereof with ultraviolet light to form a wrinkled resin layer having a wrinkled surface. The protective film and an insulation film are etched using the wrinkled resin layer as an etching mask to form reflective electrodes and protective conductive films on the wrinkled resin layer.

Liquid crystal display having a reflective electrode formed on an organic resin film

A liquid crystal display substrate with multiple pixel areas each having in at least a portion thereof a reflection area and a wrinkled resin layer formed with a positive light-sensitive resin in the reflection area. The wrinkled resin layer has in at least a portion thereof a wrinkled surface and a reflection electrode. The wrinkled resin layer also includes a light shielding portion, formed as an underlayer, for shielding light incident from the substrate's back surface side, wherein at least part of the light shielding portion is formed in a same layer with the same material as a drain electrode and a source electrode of a thin film transistor and a storage capacitor electrode, to shield a large proportion of an under area of the wrinkled resin layer from light along with the drain electrode, the source electrode and the storage capacitor electrode.

Liquid crystal display substrate, method of manufacturing the same, and liquid crystal display device having the same

By circular or polygonal openings formed in at least one of a metal film, a semiconductor film, an insulating film and the like, which films are below a reflecting electrode, minute irregularities are densely formed on a surface of the reflecting electrode. In this case, it is required that a linear density defined by peripheral dimensions of the openings per unit area is equal to 0.2 or more.

Liquid crystal display device

A substrate for use in a liquid crystal display, including an insulating substrate cooperating with an oppositely arranged opposite substrate to hold a liquid crystal. A plurality of pixel regions are arranged on the insulating substrate in a matrix form, in each of which a switching element is formed. At least one resin color filter layer is formed on the pixel regions to cover the switching element. Additionally, at least one layer of the resin color filter layers of the plural colors has a cruciform-shaped pattern protruding to cover the switching elements of neighboring pixels when viewed in a direction of a normal of a substrate surface.
