A puncture needle in accordance with an aspect of the present invention includes a needle body () that includes a main portion () and a distal portion () tapering from the main portion () and that is rotatable about a central axis () of the needle body (), the needle body () including needle parts () separated by a boundary along the central axis, each of the needle parts () being independently translatable along the central axis ().

Provided is a power generation device having a dielectric body and an electret, where power is generated by varying the distance between the dielectric body and the electret. A first electrode is connected to the electret on a side not facing the dielectric body. The first electrode is connected to a grounding terminal via a load. A second electrode may be connected to the dielectric body on a side not facing the electret. The second electrode may be directly connected to the grounding terminal.

A power generation apparatus includes a dielectric, a movable member being opposed to the dielectric with a predetermined distance, and an electret and an opposing electrode that are formed on the surface of the movable member facing the dielectric so as to generate a fringe electric field penetrating the dielectric between the two electrodes. When the volume occupancy of the dielectric between the electret and the opposing electrode varies in accordance with a displacement of the movable member, the power generation apparatus outputs the electric charge induced in the opposing electrode as electric current.

One of the aspects of the present invention is to provide a medical needle extending along a predetermined direction and having a vertical cross-section taken along a plane perpendicular to the predetermined direction of which cross-sectional area varies based upon a distance from a needle tip. The medical needle includes a plurality of maximal points where the cross-sectional area of the vertical cross-section is locally maximal, and a plurality of minimal points where the cross-sectional area of the vertical cross-section is locally minimal. The vertical cross-section at the maximal point closest to the needle tip has the cross-sectional area not less than those at any other maximal points.

One of aspects of the present invention is to provide a medical lancet, which includes a first ascending region, a descending region, and a second ascending region subsequently and integrally formed of biodegradable material. Those regions extend from a point of the lancet in a predetermined direction, and each of the regions having triangular cross sections taken along any planes perpendicular to the predetermined direction. The first and second ascending regions have the triangular cross sections of which area monotonically increases as being away from the point. Also, the descending region has the triangular cross sections of which area monotonically decreases as being away from the point. The first and second ascending regions have the largest cross section having substantially the same size and shape to each other.

Medical lancet

An accelerometer device comprises a dielectric seismic mass separated by a gap from an underlying comb-shaped planar capacitor. The principle for measuring acceleration detecting capacitance change according to movement of the dielectric mass in the fringe electrical field. This measuring principle is verified by FEM simulation. The simple structure of the accelerometer device allows the polymer Parylene to be used as the proof mass, greatly simplifying the technology by requiring only surface micromachining. Prototype accelerometers are fabricated and calibrated with the aid of off-chip capacitive readout IC.
