A sheet feeding device includes a supporting portion supporting sheets, an air blower blowing an air toward an upstream end from a downstream end of the sheets supported by the sheet supporting portion in a sheet feeding direction, a belt feeding and sucking the uppermost sheet of the sheets to which the air is blown by the air blower, and an upstream suction portion disposed upstream of the feeding belt in the sheet feeding direction and sucking the uppermost sheet. The belt includes a first suction area opposing the uppermost sheet and sucking the uppermost sheet. The upstream suction portion includes a second suction area opposing the uppermost sheet and sucking the uppermost sheet. In a widthwise direction perpendicular to the sheet feeding direction, a width of the second suction area is narrower than a width of the first suction area.

An image reading apparatus includes: an optical unit movably provided to a device main body; a flexible flat cable connected to the optical unit and to the device main body through a curved portion; a first friction surface on which the flexible flat cable abuts on an opposing surface of the device main body opposing the optical unit; and a second friction surface having a frictional force smaller than that of the first friction surface on which the flexible flat cable abuts on the opposing surface, wherein when the optical unit is positioned at an end portion on one side in a moving direction, the flexible flat cable abuts on the first friction surface, and the flexible flat cable further abuts on the second friction surface on a side where the curved portion is formed outside of the first friction surface in the moving direction of the optical unit.

A sheet feeding apparatus includes a feeding rotating member to feed a sheet, and a separating portion to separate and feed one by one the sheet fed by the feeding rotating member. The separating portion includes a separating rotating member to feed a sheet and a separating member to form a separation nip portion by abutting on the separating rotating member. In addition, a sheet stacking portion on which sheets are stacked is disposed to face the feeding rotating member, and a sheet introducing portion guides the sheet toward the separating portion. The sheet introducing portion being is in a downstream side of the sheet stacking portion and positioned above a tangent line at a contacting point between the feeding rotating member and the sheet stacking portion in a vertical direction. A gap portion is disposed on the sheet introducing portion and outside of the feeding rotating member in a sheet width direction perpendicular to a sheet feeding direction and curves the sheet fed by the feeding rotating member in the sheet width direction.

An image reading apparatus is provided with a registration roller configured such that a downstream end in a sheet feeding direction of a sheet abut to correct a skew of the sheet, and a pulling roller that conveys the sheet to the registration roller. A sheet treating apparatus includes a stacking tray, a delivery rotary member, an endless belt member, and a traction device. The stacking tray has a stacking surface for receiving and stacking sheets thereon and a stopper portion for regulating the end portions of the sheets. The delivery rotary member delivers the sheets to the stacking tray. The endless belt member contacts with and acts on the upper surface of the sheets on the stacking tray, and feeds the delivered sheet so as to pull the end portion thereof into the stopper portion. The traction device pulls a portion of the endless belt member in a predetermined direction. During sheet feeding caused by the endless belt member, the traction device is operated in conformity with the height of the sheets stacked on the stacking tray to thereby control the contact pressure of the endless belt member against the sheets stacked on the stacking tray so as to become substantially constant. The stacking tray is inclined so that the downstream side thereof in the delivery direction of the sheet may become higher. The delivered sheet is switched back to return with the direction thereof changed over, and the stopper portion is provided on the downstream side in the direction of return of the sheet. The endless belt member is supported with a portion of its inner peripheral surface twined around the delivery rotary member and is rotated with the delivery rotary member.

Sheet treating apparatus

In a sheet bundle folding apparatus for folding a bundle of sheets in two, a stick-out plate for sticking the bundle of sheets is adapted to reliably stick the bundle of sheets folded while being held between rollers for folding the bundle of sheets in a folding position therefor. A first folding roller is positionally fixed. A second folding roller is movable toward and away from the first folding roller. The stick-out plate sticks the bundle of sheets and pushes it into between the first and second folding rollers. At this time, the rollers of the stick-out plate roll along a groove. The forward roller is fitted in the groove with a correction allowance above it, and is downwardly biased by a spring. The stick-out plate follows the folding position for the bundle of sheets.

Sheet bundle folding apparatus with movable push-in member

In an image forming apparatus that folds plural sheets in folio, an image forming unit forms images an a recording area on the sheets and forms a margin between the recording area and another forming area. A projecting unit folds the sheets upon nipping the sheets between two rollers by projecting between the two rollers so as to nip a part of the sheets where the margin is formed at first. The projecting unit projects to the margin of prescribed width of images formed at an image forming apparatus body to fold the plural sheets.
