A code information reading section selects recording codes which are respectively recorded on a plurality of recording media one at a time, and sequentially optically reads the recording codes in order to make it possible to synthesize a plurality of audio information items which are previously coded and recorded in an optically readable form and to simultaneously output them. A code information decoding section sequentially decodes the recording codes read by the code information reading section. A decoded information synthesizing section sequentially synthesizes digital audio signals sequentially decoded by the code information decoding section. During a recording operation, when receiving compressed moving-picture data from the moving-picture compression encoder, the code arrangement converter rearranges the data so that the core frame data may be distribution-recorded in a particular place on each track of the tape, for example, in the head portion of the main data area. In normal reproduction, the reproduced main data undergoes error correction and deinterleaving at the format reverse-converter. The resulting date is rearranged by the code arrangement reverse-converter to form the compressed moving-picture data in the same arrangement in recording. This compressed moving-picture data passes through the moving-picture expansion decoder and appears at the output terminal. During high-speed reproduction, for example, 9-fold speed reproduction, the main data in a frame corresponding to one of core frames 0 to 8 is reproduced. The resulting signal undergoes error correction and deinterleaving at the format reverse-converter. This deinterleaved data is supplied to the local read data arrangement circuit, which extracts one core frame of data. This data is decoded at the moving-picture expansion decoder and supplied at the output terminal.

An ultrasonic endoscope apparatus in which an ultrasonic vibrating element radiating an ultrasonic wave to obtain an image of an object to be inspected is rotatably housed in a distal end of an insertion section of the endoscope, and a rotation angle sensing mechanism is also housed in the distal end. The rotation angle sensing mechanism has a magnetic recording section having a magnetization pattern for forming a magnetic field, and a magnetic sensor having at least one magneto-resistive element for sensing the magnetic field. One of the magnetic recording section and the magnetic sensor is rotated integrally with the ultrasonic vibrating element so that a rotation angle of the ultrasonic vibrating element is sensed in a precise manner.
