A joint connector according to the present invention is provided with a circuit board, a male connector having male terminals provided on the circuit board at a predetermined interval and standing in one direction and a direction that crosses the one direction, the male terminals being selectively connected by a copper foil circuit, and a female connector in which female connector elements each having female terminals inserted and interlocked in female terminal holders are stacked, wherein the male connector and the female connector are fit to each other. This achieves cost reduction and improvement in work efficiency in electric wire connection by attaining easy electric wire connection and branching.

A process for forming a cable by intermittently feeding flat cables in a common direction and transporting the cables in parallel in a common direction to a heat bonding device. The side edges of the flat cables are heat bonded in a heat bonding device over a predetermined length, the heat bonded flat cables are taken up in synchronization with the transporting thereof and the flat cables are cut at predetermined times.

Process for producing a cable including a plurality of flat cables

The cable of the present invention has a plurality of flat cables having a plurality of ribbon-shaped conductors and an insulating covering layer covering the ribbon-shaped conductors. The plurality of flat cables are arranged closely in parallel and have adjoining side edges continuously or intermittently connected over predetermined lengths. The process of producing the flat cables is to feed out a plurality of flat cables in one direction intermittently, transport them intermittently in the closely arranged state, take them up while continuously or intermittently heat bonding the adjoining side edges over predetermined lengths at the time of transport, and cut them at predetermined timings.

Cable and method of manufacturing it

The present invention provides a wire harness joint including a wiring circuit assembly and an insulation film or insulation films applied to the wiring circuit assembly, either on one or both sides. The wiring circuit assembly includes a number of flexible flat cables (FFC) disposed separately so that each one will not intersect another. The wiring circuit assembly further includes connections for connecting the tips of a wire harness that includes a plurality of parallel disposed FFCs to the FFCs of the wiring circuit assembly. Each of the insulation films is formed with windows at positions corresponding to the connections.

Wire harness joint

A rotary connector having a mutually rotatable inside case and outside case and having a flat cable with one end fixed to the inside case and the other end fixed to the outside case inserted in the space therebetween. A plurality of annular belts are inserted in the circumferential direction to bias the turnabout portion of the flat cable to prevent the flat cable from becoming loose and rattling in the space. Contact prevention members are inserted between the adjoining annular belts to prevent the adjoining annular belts from coming into direct contact with each other and to smooth the rotation of the rotary connector.

Rotary connector

A flat cable which has a connection termination with interlayer peeling films interposed between conductors and insulating films at predetermined intervals along a length of the flat cable. When connecting the flat cable, by cutting the termination with the interlayer films, the insulating film ends and interlayer film ends positioned at the cut portion are folded back to form a folded back portion. This folded back portion is made to catch on to the protective insulator of the connection device, so as to prevent poor contact etc. by ensuring that no intolerable force acts on the connection portion of the conductors even if a tensile force is applied to the connection portion. Further, in the connection termination, connection terminals are inserted between the interlayer peeling films and connectors to connect to the conductors.

Flat cable and connection device and method for the same

A transmission device is equipped with a flat cable (11) which has a winding direction reversal section (11a) at the middle, and three dummy cables (21A through 21C) which are wrapped over the flat cable, the winding direction reversal sections (11a and 21a through 21c) of the flat cable and dummy cables being arranged in the circumferential direction at approximately equal intervals. The winding direction reversal sections which produce elastic reaction forces are distributed in the circumferential direction at approximately equal intervals, and hence the slack of the flat cable is suppressed when an inner case or an outer case performs reciprocal rotation, thus securely preventing troubles caused by the slack in the flat cable, whereby the possible case revolution number can be increased with a shorter flat cable, and the operation stability of the transmission device can be improved.

Transmission device used between two relatively rotatable components

A rotary connector includes a stationary case fixed to a stationary member, a rotating case combined with the stationary case for rotation relative to the stationary case, and the rotating case having a torque transmission section for transmitting a torque from a rotating member and a junction to be connected to an external wire. A flexible flat cable having a plurality of electrical conductors coated for insulation is housed, in the form of a spiral capable of tightening and loosening, in an annular space defined by the two cases, one end of the flat cable being connected at the junction to the external wire. The torque transmission section and the junction are fractured and removed from the rotating case under first and second torques, respectively, transmitted from the rotating member.

Cutter-less rotary connector

A rotary connector which comprises a rotating case and a stationary case combined for rotation and defining an annular space therein, a flexible flat cable housed in the form of a spiral in the annular space, and a fixing member for regulating the relative rotation of the two cases. The fixing member is removably mounted extending between mounting portions formed individually on the cases, the flat cable tightening and loosening so that the rotating case is allowed to rotate relatively to the stationary case. The fixing member is provided integrally with an indicating portion for restraining the fixing member from being disengaged from the mounting portions and indicating the release of the cases from fixation by being fractured or deformed by a predetermined stress which forces the fixing member to be disengaged from the mounting portions.

An electric connecting apparatus for setting up electric connection between wiring harnesses and a rotary connector having stationary and rotary casings and a flat cable housed therebetween. The apparatus is equipped with first and second apparatus sections each disposed on the rotary and stationary casing sides. The first section has a holder member formed on the rotary casing, a connector housing mounted to one end of the wiring harness, and a joint mold mounted to one end of the flat cable. The connector housing includes female terminals connected to odd end of the wiring harness and a connector housing main body for accommodating the female terminals. The joint mold includes tabs connected to odd end of the flat cable and a joint mold main body which supports the tabs. The second apparatus section has a cable lead-out section integral with the stationary casing, and a retaining key forcibly inserted into an open end portion of the cable lead-out section together with the connector housing, in place of the holder member. When the joint molds are connected to the connector housings each held in the holder member or the cable lead-out section, the electrical connection between the flat cable and the wiring harnesses is set up, with an engaging projection of the connector housing main body fitted into an engaging hole in the holder member to thereby lock the connector housing within the holder member.

Apparatus for electrically connecting a rotary connector and a wiring

A connector device is provided in which a flexible belt-shaped transmission line wound in spiral form and including a plurality of electrical conductors covered with an insulating material is housed in fixed and rotatable cases which are relatively rotatably combined and define therein an annular space. A joining portion is formed on each of the rotatable and fixed cases, for connecting the electrical conductors of the belt-shaped transmission line to a terminal attached to an external electric wire.
