An object of the present invention is to provide an artificial olfactory sensing system capable of sniffing out various odors highly sensitively. The artificial olfactory sensing system includes: plural sensor cells on a lipid membrane of each of which olfactory receptors have developed; and plural ion-sensitive field-effect transistors (ISFETs) that correspondingly exist to the sensor cells on a one-on-one basis. A response signal showing that each of the olfactory receptors of each of the sensor cells has recognized an odor molecule is converted into an electric signal by an ISFET corresponding to each of the sensor cells.

Artificial olfactory sensing system

A magnetic measurement device has a magnetic sensor including a glass cell having alkali metal gas encapsulated therein that is configured to detect a magnetic field using a magneto-optical characteristic of spin-polarized alkali metal. A laser light source is configured to generate pump light introduced into the magnetic sensor and a coil provided in the same magnetically shielded space as the magnetic sensor is configured to apply a static magnetic field and a RF magnetic field to the magnetic sensor. A signal processor is configured to perform lock-in detection of a light detection signal transmitted through the glass cell of the magnetic sensor, control an intensity of the static magnetic field and a frequency of the RF magnetic field generated by the coil according to a lock-in detection output, and obtain a measurement signal reflecting a magnetic field intensity of an object to be measured in the magnetically shielded space.

Magnetic field measurement device

Stable magnetic field measurement is enabled without collapse of polarization or fluctuation of intensity of a laser beam incident on a glass cell of an optical pumping magnetic sensor. Excitation light generated with a light source, having optimized light intensity and polarized wave, through frequency stabilization, intensity control and polarized-wave control, is introduced via a polarized wave holding optical fiber to a magnetic sensor provided in a magnetic shield, and magnetic field measurement is performed by optical pumping using magneto-optical properties of spin-polarized alkali metal. The magnetic sensor has a structure where a lens, a polarization optical device, the glass cell and a photodetector, are integrally accommodated in a non-magnetic case.

Optical pumping magnetometer

In order to provide a magnetic field measuring apparatus facilitating the pressure control in a gas cell, or capable of inspecting the internal pressure of the gas cell without using any special process, the magnetic field measuring apparatus is configured such that a process layer of the magnetic field measuring apparatus has such a structure that includes a first hollow portion and a second hollow portion provided opposed to first hollow portion with a first isolation wall interposed therebetween. Alternatively, a method for manufacturing the magnetic field measuring apparatus includes breaking the first isolation wall after generating alkali metal (FIG.and FIG.).

Constant phone-call quality is kept irrespective of setting of a tone adjusting function of a cellular phone under connection. There is provided a sound collector for collecting voices and converting the voices to a voice signal, a communication unit for communicating with a cellular phone terminal according to a predetermined communication protocol, and a reproducing unit for reproducing the voice signal received in the communication unit. A hands-free phone-call device for enabling the cellular phone terminal to execute hands-free phone call is provided with a signal processor for subjecting a voice signal to signal processing of adjusting tone quality to a predetermined state, and a controller for obtaining information on a tone adjusting function from the cellular phone terminal when the cellular phone terminal having the tone adjusting function for adjusting the tone quality during phone call is connected to communicate, and transmitting a predetermined command when it is determined that the tone adjusting function of the cellular phone terminal can be stopped or not, whereby the tone adjusting function of the cellular phone terminal is stopped and then the signal processor is made to execute the signal processing.

A driver model with higher precision is created as an evaluation standard for a driving condition in a normal condition. By detecting biometric information of a driver, whether a driver is in a usual condition or not is recognized. Then, data of driving conditions are collected while the driver is driving, and from the driving condition data, a part indicating that the driver operates in a usual condition is extracted to create a driver model. Further, the driver model is created taking only a case of driving in a normal condition as a driving action in normal times based on biometric information of the driver, and hence the driver model becomes more precise and neutral. Further, by using a GMM (Gaussian mixture model) for the driver model, a driver model for each driver can be created easily, and moreover, by calculation to maximize a conditional probability, a driving operation action is easily estimated and outputted.

In quantitative analysis of an element in a specimen in which characteristic X-rays generated from the specimen upon irradiation with an electron beam are detected, absorption current values of the specimen and a reference sample are measured before the final measurement, the value of ratio between thus measured values is determined, and the absorption current value of the specimen measured at the time of final measurement is multiplied by this value of ratio, so as to calculate the irradiation current value thereof, thereby substantially monitoring the irradiation current.

A safe drive support system includes a memory unit for storing road-map data including a safe driving area data, a present location detecting unit for detecting a present location of the vehicle, a determining unit for determining as to whether the present location of the vehicle is in the safe driving area according to a detection result by the present location detecting unit, and limiting unit for limiting driving torque or starting torque of the vehicle in the area according to a determination result by the determining unit. In the safe driving area, the limiting operation is carried out by, for example, setting the gear position of start to the second position so as to prevent the vehicle from starting suddenly. An operational angle of a throttle valve is limited at a predetermined angle to limit the output of the engine to suppress an excess speed when an accelerator is stepped on strongly.

Safe driving support system

An input unit for navigation systems which easily inputs positional information for a destination point and so on. When discrimination information for a designated section of a map is input by an input device and representative points of the section and a certain point within the section are designated by using a transparent tablet overlaid on the map, a CPU, by reference to a map data base, calculates the geographic coordinates of the designated point within the designated section, based on the geographic coordinates of the representative point(s) of the section, and based on all positional information which is output from the transparent tablet and which corresponds to the representative point(s) of the section and the designated point within the section, and transmits the geographic coordinates of the designated point to a navigation device ECU.

Input device for navigation systems

This is an object of the present invention to provide a tying method and member which has strong tying force and restrains itself from vertically shifting on a bag once the neck portion of the bag is tied up therewith. The tying method comprises the steps of fitting a tying member which is substantially a flat plate made of elastic material to an object to be tied up via a second opening, the tying member having a first opening for accommodating the object to be tied up, and mating member, the first opening being provided at one place within the flat plate, the second opening communicating with the first opening, the second opening extending up to the outer peripheral end of the flat plate; tightening the flat plate into substantially a conical shape with the first opening as the apex when the first opening is closed as its diameter is reduced by overlapping both side portions of the flat plate with the second opening as the boundary; and fixing the tying member thus tightened into the conical shape using the mating member. The tying member is a body substantially in the form of a flat plate made of elastic material and formed with the first opening having thorns, the second opening and a member for fixing the conical plate body, the first opening being closed as its diameter is reduced when the tying member is tightened into the conical shape with the first opening as the apex.

A binding machine which uses a binding piece belt which is a series of binding pieces each of which is a flat plate of elastic material having a first opening substantially at the center into which an object to be bound therewith is inserted, a second opening which is communicated with the first opening and extended to the outer periphery of the flat plate, and a pair of locking wings provided on both sides of the second opening, and the binding machine which operates to put the binding piece located at the top of the binding piece belt on the puckered mouth of a bag and bind the puckered mouth of the bag such a manner that the binding piece is substantially conical and the first opening engaged with the puckered mouth of the bag is at the top, the binding machine comprises a binding-piece feeding passageway and a binding piece holder. The binding-piece feeding passageway arranges the binding piece in a position that the binding piece is substantially conical, that the convex side thereof is the same direction as the opening of the bag and that the first opening engaged with the puckered mouth of the bag is at the top. The binding piece holder for maintaining the position of the binding piece when the binding piece is put on the puckered mouth of the bag.

Binding machine

In the magnetic optical system of a transmission electron microscope (TEM), the increased strength of a second objective lens is used to increase the longitudinal energy dispersion by forming an image at a magnified second back-focal plane. The electric current distribution of other lenses in the microscope is reconfigured to compensate for any offsets introduced by the modified second objective lens. A plurality of deflectors are installed which enable the manipulation of the electron beam electronically between the specimen and the second back-focal plane. The magnified second back-focal plane is projected onto the selected-area aperture, allowing the use of the existing selected-area aperture as an objective aperture to achieve an energy filtering effect which improves the image contrast and resolution.

Enhanced imaging mode for transmission electron microscopy

A voice-type navigation apparatus is disclosed for giving voice instructions regarding a route to be taken by a vehicle. The instructions are indicated by an audible voice. A memory is provided for storing various voice data for guiding a driver to maintain a route to be traveled by the vehicle. A voice data selection device is provided to select voice data from the memory according to the routes to be maintained. A voice output device audibly outputs the voice data selected by the voice data selection device so that a driver perceives that an audible voice is coming from a particular direction with reference to the driver. The particular direction is determined in accordance with the content of the selected voice data which represents the instruction to be given to the driver regarding the route to be taken by the vehicle.

Directional voice-type navigation apparatus

A side-entry specimen holder for use with a transmission electron microscope. The holder comprises a specimen-holding plate and an insertion rod. The holding plate is provided with a hole permitting passage of the electron beam produced inside the microscope. Either a specimen or a piece of mesh on which a specimen is placed is held inside the hole. An engaging hole is formed at one end of the holding plate. The insertion rod has a pin at its front end. The pin is engaged in the engaging hole to detachably hold the holding plate. Thus, the insertion rod is coupled to the holding plate.

Detachable specimen holder for transmission electron microscope

A transmission electron microscope including an input portion such as a keyboard, a central processing unit (CPU), two memories connected with the CPU, an imaging lens system, and a lens control portion connected with the CPU. The imaging lens system comprises an objective lens, intermediate lenses, and a projector lens. The microscope can operate either in image mode or in diffraction mode. In the image mode, excitation currents fed to the lenses can be controlled to rotate the image projected onto the fluorescent screen. In the diffraction mode, the excitation currents are controlled according to data about the orientation of the image so that the projected diffraction pattern may substantially coincide in orientation with the image.
