The lower guide member includes a first guide rib, a first corrugation member, and a first elastic member. The first elastic member supports an end portion of the first corrugation member on a side of the delivery roller, such that the end portion protrudes ahead of the first guide rib toward the upper guide member, with respect to the other end portion. The upper guide member includes a second guide rib, a second corrugation member, and a second elastic member. The second elastic member supports an end portion of the second corrugation member on the side of the delivery roller, such that the end portion protrudes ahead of the second guide rib toward the lower guide member, with respect to the other end portion.

An image processing apparatus includes a registration roller, a first conveying roller, and a second conveying roller. The registration roller is disposed on a conveying path of a sheet to be subjected to image processing, and corrects the skew of the sheet by allowing the leading end of the sheet abut thereon in a stopped state. The first conveying roller is disposed upstream of the registration roller on the conveying path at a position where a first loop space for deflecting the sheet is interposed between the first conveying roller and the registration roller. The second conveying roller is disposed upstream of the first conveying roller at a position where a second loop space is interposed between the two conveying rollers. The second conveying roller conveys the sheet at a conveying speed that is equal to or higher than the conveying speed of the first conveying roller.

A sheet post-processing device includes a conveying member, a processing tray, a processing section, a reference plate, an alignment member, a holder drive unit, and a control unit. The alignment member includes a paddle holder, and an alignment paddle having a paddle main body supported in a rotatable manner at the paddle holder, and a paddle part protruding from the paddle main body. The holder drive unit moves the alignment paddle in a reciprocating manner, between a reference position to separate the paddle part above a top sheet and an acting position to allow the paddle part to contact with the top sheet. The control unit sets a second acting position when the paddle part contacts with the sheet at n1-th time, to be higher than a first acting position when the paddle part contacts with the sheet at m1-th time, where 1≤m1<n1 holds.

A sheet discharger includes a sheet discharge outlet, a discharge member, a sheet discharge tray, a sheet hold-down member, a drive portion, and a control portion. The sheet discharge tray is disposed downstream from the sheet discharge outlet with respect to a discharge direction and is a tray on which a sheet discharged through the sheet discharge outlet is loaded. The sheet hold-down member is swingable between a hold-down position at which the sheet loaded on the sheet discharge tray is held down at an upstream part thereof in the discharge direction and a retracted position retracted upward from the hold-down position. The drive portion drives the sheet hold-down member. The control portion determines, in accordance with characteristics of the sheet, whether or not to execute a sheet hold-down operation in which the sheet hold-down member is moved to the retracted position and to the hold-down position.

A sheet post-processing device includes a conveying member, a processing tray, a processing section, a reference plate, an alignment member, a holder drive unit, and a control unit. The alignment member includes a paddle holder supported in a swingable manner along a carry-in direction, and an alignment paddle supported in a rotatable manner at a swinging end of the paddle holder. The holder drive unit moves the alignment paddle in a reciprocating manner, between a reference position to retreat the paddle part above a top sheet placed on the processing tray and an acting position to allow the paddle part to contact with a top surface of the sheet. When the number of the sheets carried in onto the processing tray is increasing, the control unit continuously moves the acting position of the alignment paddle in a direction separating from the processing tray.

A sheet postprocessing apparatus includes a table configured to receive a plurality of sheets delivered thereto, and inclined downward toward a downstream side in a sheet delivery direction, a leading edge cursor provided on a far side on the table in the delivery direction, and configured to align respective leading edges of the sheets abutted against the leading edge cursor, and a postprocessing device including a stapling device that binds a central portion in the delivery direction, of the sheets stacked on the table, and a center folding device that folds the sheets along the central portion. The sheet post-processing apparatus satisfies C1>C2>P1≥C3 where P1 is a size in a width direction of the sheet, and C1, C2, and C3 are intervals between the width regulating members at the standby positions, the first regulating positions, and the second regulating positions, respectively.

A sheet postprocessing device includes a saddle binding device configured to stack a plurality of recording sheets on a table, abut leading edges of the respective recording sheets against a leading edge cursor, thus to align the leading edges with each other, and bind the center of the recording sheets and fold the recording sheets, and a first pressing member supported so as to pivot in a direction toward and away from the table. A sheet feeding apparatus includes a sheet stacking portion, a lift plate, an actuating segment, driving unit, a sheet feeding portion, a first detecting portion, a remaining amount detection portion. The remaining amount detection portion includes a detection piece, a link mechanism, a second detecting portion, a controller. The link mechanism couples together the driving shaft and the detection piece at a coupling position attained by pivoting the lift plate through a predetermined angle from a lower limit position in rotation direction, so as to let the driving shaft and the detection piece rotate together. The second detecting portion senses whether or not the detection piece is present. The controller determines the remaining quantity level of the stacked sheets according to whether or not the second detecting portion is detecting the detection piece being present.

A sheet feeding apparatus includes a control unit. After finishing feeding the sheet, if the sheet detection unit does not detect the sheet when the lift plate is positioned at the sheet feeding position, the control unit sets the waiting position to a lowest position. Further, if the sheet detection unit detects the sheet and if the remaining amount detection unit detects that the remaining amount of the sheets is a predetermined amount or less, the control unit sets the waiting position to a height position between the sheet feeding position and the lowest position. An image forming system includes an image forming apparatus, a first conveyance path, a sheet feeding unit, a sheet post-processing unit, and a controller. The image forming apparatus has a first feed portion, and an image forming portion. The sheet feeding apparatus has a sheet stacking portion, a second feed portion, a relay conveyance portion, and a remaining amount detecting portion. When, during continuous printing, the existing number of recording sheets present in a conveyance passage from a confluence portion to the first feed portion is more than the constituting number of recording sheets contained in one bundle of sheets and in addition the sensing result of the remaining amount sensor is equal to or less than a predetermined amount, the controller controls first feed portion such that the existing number of the recording sheets is less than the constituting number of recording sheets.

Image forming system

An image forming apparatus includes a main body and a post-processing device. The main body includes an operation panel and a first controller that switches an action mode to a first action mode or a second action mode. The post-processing device includes an operation receiving section and a second controller. The operation receiving section receives an operation by a user and outputs an operation signal. The operation receiving section is in an unreachable position for the user when operating the operation panel. The first controller switches the action mode upon determining that an operation indicated by the operation signal received through the second controller matches a predetermined operation. The second controller controls action of the post-processing device independent of control by the first controller in the second action mode.

Image forming apparatus

Provided is a paper-discharge apparatus that suppresses operating sound of the paper-discharge apparatus. A contact member changes the posture of the introduction guide by coming in contact with the introduction lever and rotating the introduction lever. A control unit sets a state in which paper is introduced to the paper-discharge-conveying unit to a non-contact state of the introduction lever and contact member, and sets a state when conveyed paper is guided to another discharge destination to a contact state of the introduction lever and the contact member. The control unit rotates the motor at a first speed and moves the contact member, and brings the contact member in contact with the introduction lever after setting the rotating speed of the motor to a second speed that is slower than the first speed.
