A button sewing apparatus comprising a button supply device, a X-Y mover, a stay button chucking device, a surface button chucking device, a surface button turning device, a presser foot device, a thread guiding device and a thread holding device. Button neck wrapping is performed in a manner closely simulating 'hand' sewing. After sewing both a stay button and a surface button to a workpiece, a sewing table makes a circular motion while keeping a needle entry as the center, and a thread is slidably clamped and guided to pass through a guide hole tentatively formed underneath a needle such that the thread wraps firmly around the button neck.

A button sewing machine allows simultaneous sewing of both a stay button and a surface button to a workpiece and conducts button-neck-wrapping by inclining both buttons with a workpiece. A needle is arranged to travel between an upper needle bar spindle and a lower needle bar spindle, being received by each spindle alternately per each needle stroke, such that buttons are sewn in a manner closely simulating 'hand' sewing. A worktable is arranged to move in both the X and Y directions in accordance with the button hole pitch distance in synchronization with the up and down motion of the needle.

An apparatus for automatically packaging folded hosiery into a pouch having a pouch closing flap in which a first means automatically forms the pouch and flap of a single sheet of plastic film with one face of a double-faced adhesive tape adhesively attached to the pouch, in which a second means automatically inserts the folded hosiery into the pouch while adhesively attaching the other face of the double-faced adhesive tape already on the pouch to the flap to close the pouch with the hosiery therein and in which a suction transfer arm automatically transfers the pouch and flap as made by the first means to the second means to insert the hosiery into the pouch.
