A prime mover rotation speed display device includes: a prime mover rotation speed acquisition unit configured to acquire a rotation speed; a shift target rotation speed calculation unit configured to calculate a shift target rotation speed; a shift instruction rotation speed calculation unit configured to calculate a shift instruction rotation speed; and a meter display control unit configured to calculate a meter display rotation speed provided for meter display, wherein the meter display control unit calculates the meter display rotation speed based on at least the rotation speed of the prime mover, calculates the meter display rotation speed based on at least the shift instruction rotation speed, performs upper limit control and lower limit control of setting the meter display rotation speed to the shift target rotation speed if the meter display rotation speed is expected to be higher or to be lower than the shift target rotation speed.

An engine room temperature rise restricting apparatus including an open and close detector of the grille shutter, and a controller including a CPU and a memory coupled to the CPU, wherein the CPU and the memory are configured to perform: detecting a stuck-closed failure of a grille shutter of a condition that the grille shutter remains closed regardless of an open instruction for the grille shutter, based on signal from the open and close detector; and controlling a speed ratio of a continuously variable transmission so that an upper limit of an engine rotational speed or an engine driving force when the stuck-closed failure is detected is smaller than an upper limit of the engine rotational speed or the engine driving force when the stuck-closed failure is not detected.

The horizontal deflection apparatus has a separator whose cross-section takes a saddle-shape form, and horizontal deflecting coils are comprised of three coil groups connected in a series to each other. The first coil group is wound on the outermost circumference on the inside of the main structure of the separator, the second coil group is wound at a predetermined distance from the first coil group, and the third coil group is wound at a predetermined distance from the second coil group. Deflecting efficiency at the deflection center is improved because the deflection magnetic field generated from the second and third coil groups is generated at the deflection center.

In an apparatus for converting received video signals of a first format, which has a first number of horizontal lines in a field or frame and a picture display of a first aspect ratio, to video signals of a second format, which has a second number of horizontal lines in a field or frame and a picture display of a second aspect ratio; an analog-to-digital converter converts the received video signals of the first format to digital video signals, a memory has addresses at which there are written at least a field of the digital video signals of the first format, whereupon, a reading circuit reads from the memory addresses less samples of the digital video signals than were written in the memory and the digital video signals thus read from the memory are converted back to analog form, and a controller is provided for variably determining a start address of the addresses in the memory from which video signal data are read. In the case where the first aspect ratio is larger than the second aspect ratio, the selection of the start address determines a portion or portions of the picture display of the first aspect ratio to be omitted at least at one side of the picture display of the second aspect ratio.

Apparatus for defining an effective picture area of a high definition

A side pincushion distortion correction circuit has an impedance circuit connected in series with the deflection coil in a television receiver. A controllable switch connected in parallel with the impedance circuit is operated by a switching signal, the phase of which is modulated by a combination of a parabolic signal at the vertical rate and a control signal corresponding to the brightness of a reproduced picture on the screen of the television receiver in order to maintain proper correction of side pincushion distortion despite variations in the brightness of a picture reproduced on the cathode ray tube of the television receiver.

Side pincushion correction circuit

The beam forming means and static convergence correcting means in a color cathode ray tube are arranged to provide for proper convergence of the beams at regions remote from the center of the screen and closer to the corners. The resulting misconvergence at the center of the screen is then corrected by dynamic convergence correcting means which produces less beam distortion then if it had to correct misconvergence at the corners.
