An organic EL display device with higher resolution, suppressed power consumption while being driven and low manufacturing cost, and no color mixing and color shifting between subpixels adjacent to each other is provided. In a B subpixel, a first separation layer is provided between a common blue-light-emitting layer and a common green-light-emitting layer. In a G subpixel, a second separation layer is provided between the common green-light-emitting layer and a common red-light-emitting layer.

Organic EL display device and organic EL display device manufacturing method

A blue fluorescent light-emitting layer is provided in common for a subpixel and a subpixel, a green fluorescent light-emitting layer is provided in common for the subpixel and a subpixel, and a red light-emitting layer is provided in common for the subpixel and a subpixel. An opposing surface distance is less than or equal to a F&#xf6;rster radius, and in the subpixel, the green fluorescent light-emitting layer and the red light-emitting layer are layered with a separation layer interposed therebetween.

Display device and manufacturing method therefor

A blue fluorescent light-emitting layer is provided in common for first and second subpixels, a green fluorescent light-emitting layer is provided in common for second and third subpixels, and a red light-emitting layer is provided in common for the second and fourth subpixels. In the second subpixel, an opposing surface distance is less than or equal to a F&#xf6;rster radius, and at least of the blue fluorescent light-emitting layer and the green fluorescent light-emitting layer are layered with the red light-emitting layer with a separation layer interposed therebetween.

In this manufacturing method, in a blue fluorescent light-emitting layer formation step, a blue fluorescent light-emitting layer is formed in both a subpixel and a subpixel; in a green fluorescent light-emitting layer formation step, a green fluorescent light-emitting layer is formed in both the subpixel and a subpixel; and in a red light-emitting layer formation step, a red light-emitting layer is formed in both the subpixel and a subpixel. In at least two of the abovementioned steps, linear vapor deposition is performed using a slit mask having an opening that is provided so as to extend across a plurality of pixels.

Display device manufacturing method, and display device

A display device includes a cathode electrode provided on a subpixel-by-subpixel basis, an anode electrode provided commonly for a plurality of subpixels in an upper layer with respect to the cathode electrode, a light emitting layer provided between the cathode electrode and the anode electrode, a first wiring line provided in the same layer as the cathode electrode, and a second wiring line provided in an upper layer with respect to the first wiring line and superimposed on the first wiring line.

Display device

A successive deposition apparatus by which a reduction in the luminous efficiency of a light-emitting element can be suppressed even in high-speed deposition of a light-emitting layer thereof is provided. The apparatus includes: a second deposition chamber; a third deposition chamber coupled to the second deposition chamber; a transfer unit for transferring a substrate from second deposition chamber to third deposition chamber; plural third deposition sources arranged in the substrate transfer direction in the second deposition chamber; and a fourth and fifth deposition sources alternately arranged in the transfer direction in the third deposition chamber. In the third deposition chamber, the fourth deposition source is placed nearest to the second deposition source. The fourth deposition source contains a host material, and the fifth deposition source contains a dopant material. The HOMO level of a material of the third deposition source is adjusted to that of the host material.

Successive deposition apparatus and successive deposition method

To provide a light-emitting device which can emit bright light without increasing the projected area of a light-emitting element and be manufactured with high yield. A light-emitting device of one embodiment of the present invention includes a plurality of projections; a first electrode formed along the plurality of projections; a layer containing a light-emitting organic compound formed along the plurality of projections and over the first electrode; and a second electrode formed along the plurality of projections and over the layer containing a light-emitting organic compound. Further, the plurality of projections each have a bottom surface having a side in contact with a bottom surface of an adjacent projection; a plurality of side surfaces each having a certain angle greater than 0&#xb0; and less than or equal to 80&#xb0; with respect to the bottom surface; and a vertex having a first continuously curved surface.

Light-emitting device

A liquid crystal display is furnished with: a liquid crystal display element having a pair of substrates, to which alignment members are provided to their respective opposing surfaces, and a liquid crystal layer sandwiched by the pair of substrates; an alignment mechanism for providing at least two different director configurations simultaneously on different arbitrary regions used for display in the liquid crystal layer; and a reflection film provided to at least one of the different arbitrary regions showing different director configurations; wherein the different arbitrary regions showing different director configurations are used for a reflection display section for showing reflection display and a transmission display section for showing transmission display, respectively. Examples of the alignment mechanism include an alignment film to which the alignment treatment is applied in different orientations in the reflection display section and transmission display section, respectively, an insulation film having different film thicknesses in the reflection display section and transmission display section, and so forth.

Liquid crystal display

A display includes a polarizing member and a reflective display element behind an EL element. The EL element self-emits light to display information and doubles as a display-use light source for the reflective display element. In a sufficiently bright environment, ambient light enters a liquid crystal layer after passing through a frontal substrate of the reflective display element, and is reflected from a metal electrode to produce displays. In addition to the direct light from the EL element, light that enters the liquid crystal layer is simultaneously used. In a dark environment, the EL element emits light, and displayed contents are visible owing to the reflection from the metal electrode as well as directly exiting light. The structure makes it possible to provide a novel type of display that allows a user to select one of various display modes at his/her own discretion according to surrounding conditions and that also shows information in a clearly visible fashion, be it outdoors under clear skies or in a dark place, without giving up their thin, lightweight features.

Display

A reflective color liquid crystal display device with a liquid crystal layer sandwiched between a first substrate having a light reflectibility and a second substrate having a light transmissibility. The liquid crystal layer being composed of twist-aligned nematic liquid crystal having a positive dielectric anisotropy. A circularly polarizing unit, including a single linear polarizer plate, selectively passes either right handed or left handed circularly polarized light out of natural light. The circularly polarizing unit is disposed so that a major surface of the circularly polarizing unit is on a liquid crystal layer side, the circularly polarized light exiting the circularly polarizing unit through the major surface when natural light enters the circularly polarizing unit. Various parameters of the liquid crystal layer are optimized for a liquid crystal layer having a twist angle in the range of 0&#xb0; to 100&#xb0;.
