To provide an ophthalmic lens container of novel structure, whereby without the use of any special utensil, a liquid such as a preserving solution can be drained, while keeping an ophthalmic lens held in the container. An ophthalmic lens containerincludes a container bodywherein a cavityhas an opening inside faceof generally heart shape in a plane view. A constricted lower end of the lower section of the heart shape in the opening inside face has a circumferential radius of curvature: ra is smaller than a radius of curvature of a front face of the ophthalmic lens, and the two side portions of the heart shape in the opening inside surfaceof the cavityhave the radius of curvature in the circumferential direction greater than the radius of curvature of the front face of the ophthalmic lens; while a diameter dimension of an inscribed circle in the opening of the cavity is greater than the outside diameter dimension of the ophthalmic lens.

Ophthalmic lens storage container

Disclosed is an ophthalmic lens storage container comprising: a container body including a lens storage portion having a cavity for storing a lens and a preserving solution, and a flange surrounding the cavity; and a cover sheet stripably sealed to the flange in a sealing zone that extends around the cavity to thereby fluid-tightly seal the lens storage portion. The flange of said container body includes an insulating portion located radially outward of an open-end peripheral portion of the cavity, extending circumferentially and includes a shoulder surface that extends in a first direction opposite to a second direction along which the cavity is exposed, and the sealing zone is located radially outward of the insulating portion of the flange.

A combination vessel is capable of carrying out temporary fastening while always bringing down a ring portion subsequently to breakage of a bridge part during an opening operation. A cap portion and a ring portion of a cap type sealing tool are coupled to each other through a bridge part. Through breakage of the bridge part during opening of the cap portion, the ring portion is pulled down while a sliding protrusion on an internal wall in a lower stage area of the ring portion always contacts by pressure an upward spread zone on an external wall of a neck zone of a bottle portion. In addition, vertical convexities to block an opening turn of the cap portion provided on an inner periphery of the ring portion, and vertical convexities to block the opening turn provided on an external wall of a neck zone of the bottle portion, do not prevent attachment of the cap type sealing tool, but do prevent accompanied rotation of the ring portion during the opening of the cap portion to thereby allow breaking of the bridge part. At least one higher vertical convexity is provided as one of the vertical convexities provided on the inner periphery of the ring portion. Consequently, it is possible to prevent the ring portion from an erratic opening. Furthermore, the bridge part is not broken during temporary mounting of the cap type sealing tool and a subsequent opening thereof.

Mold assembly for forming a lens blank for an ophthalmic lens, wherein upper and lower tapered inner surfaces of intermediate sleeve are adapted to be held in press-fitting engagement with respective outer surfaces of upper and lower molds, to effect fluid-tight connection of the upper and lower molds with the intermediate sleeve, with the upper mold being held in abutting contact with a shoulder of the intermediate sleeve, and with stopper surfaces of the intermediate and lower molds being held in abutting contact with each other to determine a relative axial position therebetween, such that a mold cavity to be filled with a liquid monomer composition is defined by the upper and lower molds and the intermediate sleeve, while a liquid reservoir for storing an excess amount of the monomer composition which has been discharged from the mold cavity is defined by the upper mold and the intermediate mold.

A method of producing an ocular lens, comprising the steps of: (a) preparing a lens blank which gives an ocular lens, the lens blank having a concave back surface and a convex front surface, at least a portion of the front surface being tapered to give a tapered surface; (b) forming a back curved surface of the ocular lens by effecting a cutting operation on the concave back surface of the lens blank, while the lens blank is supported on a spindle of a back surface cutting device such that the tapered surface of the lens blank is drawn onto a tapered holding surface of the spindle under a negative pressure applied to the lens blank, the tapered holding surface following a profile of the tapered surface of the lens blank; and (c) forming a front curved surface of the ocular lens by effecting a cutting operation on the front surface of the lens blank whose back surface has been cut to form the back curved surface, while the lens blank is supported on a spindle of a front surface cutting device such that the back curved surface of the lens blank is drawn onto a holding surface of the spindle of the front surface cutting device under a negative pressure applied to the lens blank.

Method of producing ocular lens and holders for holding lens blank during cutting thereof

A jig adapted to hold a contact lens material having a concave surface, for holding the contact lens material, including a protruding portion which has a top end having as an outer surface thereof a convex surface. This convex surface of the jig is bonded to the concave surface of the contact lens material. The protruding portion has a recess which extends from an inner surface of the top end toward a bottom end of the protruding portion. The recess is defined by an inner surface which includes a first portion that corresponds to the convex surface of the top end of the protruding portion. At least the first portion of the inner surface is roughened with a light-scattering texture. A method of holding the contact lens material while the contact lens material is processed into a contact lens is disclosed.
