When a memory cassette having semiconductor memory is attached to or detached from a connector mounted on an adapter, the supply of power to the memory cassette through the adapter is switched on or off and an interface signal between the memory cassette and the adapter is rendered active or inactive in response to connection or disconnection between the memory cassette and the adapter. The stored content of the semiconductor memory can be protected against destruction which would otherwise result from application of a power supply voltage upon connection or disconnection between the memory cassette and the adapter.

An apparatus for holding a memory cassette in a cassette adapter wherein the memory cassette cannot be ejected from the adapter, even by pressing an eject button, while data is being written into or read from the memory cassette. Provided are means for generating a signal indicating that a read or write operation is in progress, a locking mechanism for locking a cassette ejecting mechanism to render the latter inoperable, and a drive circuit responsive to the generated signal for actuating the locking mechanism to prevent ejection of the memory cassette until the read or write operation is completed.

Memory cassette holding apparatus

An apparatus for controlling the writing of data from a processor into a memory having different read and write times, wherein the memory is connected directly to the processor through address and data buses without the use of an input/output port. A timer circuit is connected to the buses and memory and is controlled by the processor to produce a write timing signal which controls the writing of data into the memory. The processor is placed in a holding state, based on the write timing signal, for a period long enough to assure that the data will be written into the memory in its entirety.

In a character display in which dot data is read out, by a character address and a row address, from a character generator having stored therein each character in the form of dots and applied to a display unit in synchronism with dot clock pulses to provide a display of the character. There are provided means for frequency dividing the dot clock and character clock pulses and means for controlling the step-by-step advancement of the row address, whereby a character display of a desired size is provided.
