One aspect of the present disclosure is an organic EL display, which includes a large number of light emitting elements that emit light when an organic substance is energized. The organic EL display has a display unit configured to display an image by emitting light generated by a large number of light emitting elements from a display surface, and a peripheral member arranged on the same surface as the display surface so as to surround the periphery of the display unit and made of a material having a light absorption rate that matches the light absorption rate of the display unit when no light is emitted.

Organic electroluminescence display

An aerial display device is mounted on a vehicle and displays information toward a driver seated in a driver seat of the vehicle. The aerial display device includes a display panel and a reflector array. The display panel including a display surface that emits images as light, the display panel being orientated such that the display surface faces toward the driver seat, the display surface including a screen display area and an aerial display area located next to the screen display area. The aerial display area is located at the upper edge portion of the display surface in an installed orientation. The screen display area is a part of the display surface located below the aerial display area. The reflector array forms the light emitted from the aerial display area as an aerial display image in midair above to the aerial display area.

Aerial display device

A backlight is located on an incident side of a liquid crystal cell with a space. A first polarizing plate between the liquid crystal cell and the backlight is spaced from the liquid crystal cell. A second polarizing plate is located on an outgoing side of the liquid crystal cell. A light guiding plate is located between the liquid crystal cell and the first polarizing plate with a space from the liquid crystal cell to transmit a part of light and to guide the light to enter the liquid crystal cell. The display unit and the emitting unit are separately provided. The polarizing axes of the first polarizing plate and the second polarizing plate extend in different directions. When linearly polarized light after passing through the first polarizing plate enters the second polarizing plate, the second polarizing plate shuts off the linearly polarized light.

Vehicle display apparatus

A display apparatus includes multiple display portions each of which displays a content different from one another, a decoration member which decorates one of the multiple display portions, an actuator which moves the decoration member, and a control portion which controls the actuator to move the decoration member to a position at which the decoration member decorates one display portion selected among the multiple display portions.

A display device includes a liquid crystal panel providing a display surface where an image is displayed, a backlight emitting light to the liquid crystal panel from behind, a real object placed between the liquid crystal panel and the backlight and visible through the liquid crystal panel, and a controller controlling the liquid crystal panel such that a specific pixel region of the display surface behind which the real object is positioned is higher in light transmittance than another pixel region of the display surface.

Display device with backlight

A vehicle display apparatus includes an image display panel, a backlight, and a translucent plate. The image display panel displays an image in a display area. The backlight emits a light in a direction from a back surface of the image display panel toward the display area. The translucent plate has a plate shape and is disposed between the image display panel and the backlight. The translucent plate transmits the light emitted from the backlight. The translucent plate has a three-dimensional indicator configured to be visually recognized through the image display panel, and a periphery portion of the translucent plate is disposed out of the display area.

An information display portion indicates vehicular information relevant to a vehicle. A display plate being translucent is located on a viewing side relative to the information display portion. A reflective portion formed in the display plate is configured to be illuminated in a predetermined shape by light emitted from a light source unit. The reflective portion being illuminated is overlapped on the vehicular information indicated by the information display portion and viewable on the viewing side.

Vehicular display device

A vehicular display device includes a plurality of monitors that include screens displaying vehicle information, a display board including a plurality transmission display portions each of which transmits and displays the screen of the respective monitors from a rear side and which are arranged side by side, a boundary portion that is positioned between the transmission display portions and an index display portion that forms an index row to display a vehicle state value, and an index light source that illuminates the index display portion. The index light source applies ultraviolet light for illuminating the index display portion to the index row from a front side of the display board, and the index row is formed in the display board in front of the transmission display portions over each of the transmission display portions interposing the boundary portion, and the index row is irradiated when receiving the ultraviolet light. Accordingly, the appearance of the display performed by the vehicular display device is improved.

A display device for a vehicle includes: a first display unit that displays a real image of first information in a first display portion; and a second display unit that displays a virtual image of second information in a second display portion by projecting an optical image to the second display portion, the second display portion being disposed above the first display portion and transmitting an external image. The display device includes: a light emission unit located adjacent to a side of the first display portion to form a light emission area; and a control unit that changes the light emission area in a guiding direction from the first display portion toward the second display portion during a linking period for linking a particular virtual image display of the second information with a real image display of the first information.

Display device for vehicle

A display apparatus includes: a dial having a first surface, a second surface and an opening; a meter; a decorative part at a peripheral part of the meter; a display at a second surface side and displaying an image; and a controller controlling an image display state. An outermost area of the display overlaps with a part of the meter. The decorative part includes: a body member having a light-transmitting property; and a surface-treated layer having a light-transmitting property and a light-reflecting property. The controller switches the state of image display in the outermost area and a non-overlapping area. The decorative part is visually recognized due to the light-reflecting property of the surface-treated layer when the image is in the non-overlapping area. The image is visually recognized in an overlapping part of the decorative part due to the light-transmitting property when the image is in the outermost area.

A display device includes: a display element for showing information as a screen image; and an ornamental member disposed on a display surface of the display element and having a shape corresponding to the screen image. The ornamental member includes a light transparent element and a light nontransparent element. The screen image includes a designed image on a position of the display surface corresponding to the light transparent element. The display element outputs a screen image light from the display surface. The screen image light corresponding to the designed image passes through the light transparent element so that the screen image light is outputted from the ornamental member to the display side.

Display device

A meter has a liquid crystal display panel. The liquid crystal display panel is adapted to display a dial picture image thereon. A backlight illuminates the liquid crystal display panel. A movement is located in front of a front surface of the liquid crystal display panel. A semi-translucent panel covers the front surface of the liquid crystal display panel. A pointer is pivotably supported by the movement in such a manner that the semi-translucent panel is located between a pivotal trajectory plane of the pointer and the liquid crystal display panel. The semi-translucent panel enhances a contrast between the dial picture image and a background image displayed on the liquid crystal display panel.

Meter having LCD panel and pointer

A meter panel such as a speedometer used in an instrument panel of an automotive vehicle includes a transparent pointer disc, a dial plate having scales and numerals thereon, and a light source for illuminating the pointer disc. The pointer disc is disposed in front of the dial plate to overlap the scales and numerals of the dial plate. The pointer disc is rotated by a pointer driver disposed behind the dial plate. Light emitted from the light source is introduced into the transparent pointer disc and reflected by a groove formed on the pointer disc toward the front side of the meter panel, thereby making the pointer visible. Since the pointer overlaps the scales and numerals of the dial plate, the pointer position relative to the scales and numerals is easily and clearly recognized.
