An information processing apparatus and method for reducing an unnecessary waiting time in a depacketizing process and enabling processing to be easily performed at high speeds applicable to, for example, an encoding apparatus. An analysis unit compares input image data with image data of one previous picture read out from a storage unit. On the basis of the analysis result, a concealment header generation unit generates a concealment header that is referred to by a receiving apparatus at the time of an error concealment process. On the basis of the concealment header, a loss analysis unit performs error concealment for the occurrence of a transmission error by suitably using encoded data stored in a storage unit.

In a communication system in which moving image data is transmitted/received between two terminal apparatuses connected to a best-effort network and bi-directional communication is realized in real time, each of the terminal apparatuses includes a reproduced picture quality judgment section that judges reproduced picture quality relating to the moving image data received from the terminal apparatus of an opposite party and notifies it as reproduced picture quality information to the opposite party, and a reproduced picture quality control section that controls picture quality of a transmitted image displayed for confirmation at a side of the apparatus itself to become the reproduced picture quality notified by the reproduced picture quality information.

The present invention relates to an information processing device and method, and program, whereby unnecessary standby time can be reduced in depacketizing processing, and processing can be performed easily and at high speed. A common header creating unitcreates common headers which are headers added in common to each packet created, based on a precinct headerwhich the data acquisition unithas acquired, from the precinct thereof. A fragment processing unitdivides encoded data which the data acquisition unitacquires into every packet size, in the event that the data size of the precinct is greater than the packet size. A packetizing unitpacketizes the payload supplied from the fragment processing unitusing header information supplied from each unit, and appropriately sets the value of flag information such as SFF and M included in the common headers of each packet that has been generated. The present invention can be applied to an encoding device, for example.

Information processing device and method, and computer readable medium for packetizing and depacketizing data

A probe transmitting section () in a packet receiving terminal () sends a probe packet to a second radio channel () at fixed intervals. A probe analyzing section () in a packet sending terminal () detects a burst loss on the basis of a state of reception of the probe packet. When a burst loss detection is detected, a predictive retransmission control section () predicts that a data packet transmitted during the period of the detected burst loss among data packets sent from a priority processing transmission buffer () to a first radio channel () is a data packet lost on a receiving side, reads the data packet from a retransmission buffer (), and then sends the data packet to the priority processing transmission buffer (). A real-time property can be ensured while a packet loss is overcome in a radio environment.
