During operation, an electronic device receives, from a second electronic device in a network, a request for testing. In response, the electronic device set ups a video call with a video-call service. Then, the electronic device provides, to the second electronic device, an invitation for the video call. When the electronic device receives a notification (e.g., from the video-call service) that the video call has started, the electronic device provides content via the video-call service for the second electronic device. Next, the electronic device obtains communication-performance metrics associated with communication via the network during the video call and video-service performance metrics associated with the video call. Furthermore, the electronic device diagnoses a type of problem experienced at the second electronic device during the video call based at least in part on the communication-performance metrics, the video-service performance metrics and a pretrained machine-learning model.

Video-call user experience testing and assurance

During operation, a computer may monitor values of at least one performance metric associated with packet communication by access points in a network. Then, the computer may compare current values of the performance metric for the access points with historical values of the performance metric for the access points within a temporal context in order to determine temporal anomaly scores for the access points. Moreover, the computer may compare the temporal anomaly scores of a group of access points in order to determine spatial temporal anomaly scores for the access points that indicate a significance of the temporal anomaly scores in a spatial context. Furthermore, when a spatial temporal anomaly score for an access point meets a detection criterion, the computer system may identify the current value of the performance metric for the access point as an anomaly. Next, the computer system may perform a remedial action based on the identified anomaly.

A method and apparatus for recording information from a plurality of mobile devices in an area, the method comprising listening for data packets from the plurality of mobile devices in a predetermined time period, creating a record for containing addresses and signal strength readings associated with the plurality of mobile devices, determining whether a data packet received during the predetermined time period is from a mobile device of the plurality of mobile devices, determining whether an address associated with the mobile device is recorded in the record, updating the record with the address and a signal strength reading associated with the mobile device, and updating the signal strength reading associated with the mobile device updating the record depending upon the number of times the record has been updated with a signal strength reading associated with the mobile device during the predetermined time period.

Method and apparatus for recording information from a plurality of mobile devices in an area

A method and apparatus for determining location information of a position in a multi-storey building, the method comprising: retrieving observation data comprising observed addresses and corresponding observed received signal strengths of wireless access points detected at the position from a memory; retrieving, for each storey of the building, a radio map comprising a plurality of location points in the respective storey of the building from a database, each location point comprising addresses and corresponding mean received signal strengths of wireless access points detected at the location point and coordinates of the location point; selecting one or more location points comprising the observed addresses from the radio map; determining a storey estimate of the position by calculating a sum probability for each storey of the building, the sum probability being calculated by summing all individual probabilities of each observed address contained in each selected location point in the radio map of the respective storey being detected on the respective storey; and setting the storey estimate as the storey of the building having highest value of the calculated sum probability, wherein each of said individual probabilities is calculated based on the corresponding observed received signal strength of said each observed address in said each selected location point and the corresponding mean received signal strength in said each selected location point containing said each observed address.
