A protective helmet with first and second helmet sections each including an outer shell section and an inner layer section of protective material. The first and second helmet sections are displaceable relative to one another to adjust a size of the helmet. Two opposed side protective members are received inwardly of the outer shell sections on opposed sides of the helmet. Means for adjusting a position of the side protective members relative to the inner layer sections of protective material are provided. The means are configured such that, when the protective helmet is adjusted when on the head of the wearer, the protective members remain substantially stationary with respect to the head of the wearer when the inner layer sections are displaced with the first and second helmet sections.

Adjustable helmet with side protective members

A protective helmet including a helmet body, a facemask extending from the front portion to cover at least a portion of a face of a wearer, and one or more adjustment mechanisms securing the facemask to the helmet body. The adjustment mechanism(s) is/are connected to the helmet, include(s) an engagement member engaged with the facemask, is/are selectively engageable with the facemask in at least two vertically spaced apart positions of the facemask relative to the helmet body, and allow(s) toolless adjustment between the vertically spaced apart positions. Adjustment mechanisms and methods of positioning a facemask are also discussed.

A protective helmet with a shell including movable first and second shell sections and an inner layer of protective material with a first layer section mounted on the first shell section and a second layer section mounted on the second shell section. Protective member(s) received within the shell each have a first end portion and an opposed second end portion. The protective member(s) may be side protective members. The first end portion extends between the first layer section and the first shell section. The second end portion extends between the second layer section and the second shell section. At least one of the first and second end portions of each protective member is displaceable relative to a corresponding one of the first and second layer sections upon the relative displacement of the shell sections.

A protective helmet including a chin cup with a body and two opposed connecting arms, each connecting arm being connected to the helmet body through a connection allowing relative movement between the connecting arm and the helmet body. A fastening system is selectively movable between a first position where the fastening system restrains the relative movement between the connecting arm and the helmet body and a second position where the fastening system frees the relative movement between the connecting arm and the helmet body along the connection. A method of adjusting a position of a chin cup in a protective helmet is also disclosed.

A helmet has a rigid shell and an adjustable liner connected to the shell. The liner has a plurality of pads located in the shell cavity. The pads are movable with respect to the interior shell surface between a first position near the interior shell surface and a second position further away. In some embodiments, pads are biased towards their second position and the act of the wearer inserting his head into the helmet causes the pads to move towards their first position while remaining biased against the head of the wearer to assist in causing the liner to conform to the head of the wearer. In other embodiments, constriction of the pads moves pads from their second position to their first position, for this same purpose. In other embodiments, pads having both of the aforementioned characteristics are present.

Helmet with rigid shell and adjustable liner

A sports helmet having a front shell and a rear shell, and a plurality of straps interconnecting the front and rear shells. At least one of the straps is connected to the front shell along an inner surface thereof, and a portion of the at least one of the straps extending from the rear shell to the connection with the front shell is completely contained inside the helmet.
