An image processing method for the 3D display of a patient's organ in which a surgical instrument is positioned, using a medical imaging system comprising a rotating C-arm able to be positioned in at least two angular positions, the C-arm comprising a radiation source at one of its ends, a detector at the other of its ends arranged facing the radiation source, and a collimator arranged between the radiation source and the detector and defining an illumination zone, characterized in that the collimator is adjusted according to the angular position of the rotating C-arm to determine the illumination zone so that the radiation only passes through a region surrounding the surgical instrument.

Image processing method and system for 3D display of a patient's organ

The disclosure generally relates to dual-energy imaging, and in particular, techniques to produce and process dual-energy images using a dual-energy imaging system. One embodiment provides a method for generating at least one image of a region of interest in a patient, the method comprising: obtaining at least two radiological images of the region of interest identified with at least one marker arranged on and/or around the patient, wherein a first image is acquired with a first X-ray energy and a second image is acquired with a second X-ray energy; and determining a final radiological image of the region of interest by linearly combining the two radiological images to obtain an image without the markers.

Processing of radiological images to delete markers without image deterioration

A treatment process of radiological images is provided. The process comprises obtaining at least one set of images. For each set, the process comprises: segmenting an at least one first image to obtain an at least one first segmented image and to detect a plurality of arteries of the region of interest and an at least one second image to obtain an at least one second segmented image and to detect and isolate the tool; defining in the at least one first segmented image a plurality of lines, wherein each line defines an artery; determining, from the second segmented image and the defined lines, an artery of interest corresponding to the artery in which a tool has been inserted; and applying a quantitative analysis algorithm of coronary lesions to the artery of interest to detect lesion of the artery of interest.

Treatment process of radiological images for detection of stenosis

A method for controlling the emission of an X-ray imaging device configured to take images of a patient's body, into which a medical instrument has been inserted, is provided. The method comprises: processing at least one image of the patient's body taken by the X-ray imaging device to extract information representing the instrument, wherein the at least one image comprises the instrument; and adapting X-ray emission parameters of the X-ray imaging device, depending on the information extracted from the at least one image, to minimize the X-ray dose emitted towards the patient's body.

A method of calibrating a mechanical model of behavior and movement of an interventional radiology table by moving the table over at least one degree of freedom, acquiring at least one set of images corresponding to different positions of the table and C-arm, obtaining at least one set of images of a test object from different positions, using the images of the test object to determine parameters of the mechanical model of table behavior and movement, and combining these parameters with data given by table movement sensors so as to deduce the true relative positions of the table with respect to the medical imaging system.

Calibration procedure for the relative position of a table and C-Arm on a medical imaging system

A system and method for correcting the registration of a 3D image and a 2D image acquired with medical imaging systems is disclosed. The system and method determines acquisition geometry of the imaging system by calculating an initial projection matrix associated with the 2D image. The system performs a projection of the 3D image using the initial projection matrix resulting in a 2D projection of the 3D image. The system registers the 2D projection of the 3D image and the 2D image. A new projection matrix is determined based on the registration of the 2D image and the 2D projection of the 3D image. The 3D image is then registered with the 2D image using the new projection matrix. An associated medical imaging system is disclosed. Method embodiments use previously acquired 3D images or images acquired using imaging modalities different than the one used to acquire the 2D image.

Method to correct the registration of radiography images

A system to track movement of an object travelling through an imaged subject is provided. The system includes an imaging system to acquire a fluoroscopic image and operable to create a three-dimensional model of a region of interest of the imaged subject. A controller includes computer-readable program instructions representative of the steps of calculating a probability that an acquired image data is of the object on a per pixel basis in the fluoroscopic image, calculating a value of a blending coefficient per pixel of the fluoroscopic image dependent on the probability, adjusting the fluoroscopic image including multiplying the value of the blending coefficient with one of a greyscale value, a contrast value, and an intensity value for each pixel of the fluoroscopic image. The adjusted fluoroscopic image is combined with the three-dimensional model to create an output image illustrative of the object in spatial relation to the three-dimensional model.
