The invention relates to a power transmission device () that comprises an input shaft () to be connected to a thermal engine () and an output shaft () to be connected to a wheel shaft (). The device () includes first and second electric machines () and a mechanical assembly () ensuring the mechanical link between the input shaft, the output shaft and the shafts () of the machines (). The invention essentially relates to a method for blocking wheels of a vehicle when stopped in which a transmission device () is placed between an output () of a heat engine () and a wheel () axle shaft (). This device () comprises an input shaft () connected to the output () of the engine (), an output shaft () connected to the wheel axle shaft (), and at least one electrical machine (). The device also comprises a mechanical assembly () interconnecting the input shaft (), the output shaft () and the shaft () of the machine. This assembly () is connected to a bridge () that, in turn, is connected to the wheel () axle shaft (). The invention provides that, in order to block the wheels when the vehicle is stopped and to limit an observable torque on the elements of the assembly (), the wheel axle shaft is blocked by the mechanical assembly.
