Thermoresponsive coloring formulation for use on reimageable image carrier

A clear plasto-elastomeric material comprising a thermoplastic, an elastomer or a copolymer or a blend thereof, mineral or vegetable oil, or a mixture thereof, and a fire retarding agent, is disclosed. This material has a combination of resiliency and shock absorption and is exceptionally hydro-slimy. Footwear made of this material has a high degree of comfort and shock absorption, slides made with the lining of this material are more efficient than water slides, and candles made with this material are freestanding, unbreakable, and have a very long burning time. The candles have been enhanced with photochromic, thermochromic, iridescent, fluorescent, and phosphorescent materials and with combinations thereof.

Clear plasto-elastomeric material and products made therefrom

An apparatus for preparing a screen printing screen is provided. It includes an exposing frame which houses a curing agent such as a light source. A reimagable image carrier is placed in registration with the exposing frame and is connected to a computer capable of supplying the image carrier with an image. An image may be created on the image carrier by exposing it to heat, UV light, or an electrostatic charge, or the image may be erased by exposing it to white light, heat, or a grounded object depending upon the image carrier material. A printing screen coated with an uncured stencil coating is placed above the image carrier. The image carrier will allow the curing agent to pass through those areas which are not blocked by the image supplied thereto to harden desired areas of the stencil coating on the printing screen, and uncured coating is rinsed away.

Method and apparatus for preparing a screen printing screen using an image carrier

A candle with an excellent attractive effect of color change with the use of positive and negative types of thermochromic dyes which develop a highly dense color on heating to the melting point of wax. These are composed of a plurality of (A) an electron donating chromogenic organic compound, (B) an electron accepting aromatic organic compound, (C) a medium selected from aliphatic alcohols or paraffinic waxes, (D) one or more of oil-based fragrances containing aromatic aldehydes, ketones, or esters, and (E) soluble halides or nitrates of transition metals. By controlling the relative proportions and the physical proximity of a plurality of ingredients from (A) through (E) in a candle or candle wax or other waxes, a color develops from a colorless state giving a positive thermochromic effect, the initial color is erased giving a negative thermochromic effect on heating or when the candle burns. These color changing waxes and candles made therefrom transform from one color shade to another color shade when mixed with conventional oil-based dyes to give a color-to-color effect on heating or melting the wax as the candle burns.

Thermally color-changing candles

Several methods of using dyes within polymers and specifically in packaging materials are disclosed. These dyes respond to specific stimuli and indicate exposure to stimuli by a change or shift in the frequencies of light which they adsorb. The stimuli include temperature, radiation, chemicals (e.g. H.sub.2 O, CO.sub.2, NO.sub.2, ethylene, and SO.sub.2), and tensile or compressive stress. Within packaging materials (or affixed thereto as a label, decal or tag) these dyes could indicate spoilage or the possibility of spoilage, that the product has been irradiated, or that the product has been exposed to an undesirably high or low temperature. Many of the shifts in absorption frequencies result in visible color change which a consumer could quickly identify. The tensile or compressive stress sensitive dyes could indicate whether common opposing interlocking polymeric strips used to seal plastic bags have been effectively interlocked to seal the bags.
