A power distribution device has a number Nof conversion devices comprising a respective cascade generator for converting a first part of a mechanical power into a first electrical power with an alternating voltage of constant amplitude and constant frequency, and comprising a respective frequency converter for supplying a second electrical power with the alternating voltage of constant amplitude and constant frequency as a function of a second part of the mechanical power; a number Nof constant frequency buses for the respective transfer of the electrical power of constant frequency supplied by the at least one conversion device to a number Nof loads which comprises at least a number Nof loads to be controlled in terms of their power consumption; and a number Nof control devices, wherein the respective control device is coupled between the respective load to be controlled and the constant frequency bus and is designed to control the power consumption of the load to be controlled.

Power distribution device for distributing power and a method for the distribution of power

The present invention relates in to a device for supplying mechanical power to start at least one engine, with a power supply device for supplying electrical power with an alternating voltage and constant frequency; and with a number, N1, of conversion devices for the conversion of the supplied electrical power to a respective mechanical power for a respective engine, wherein a respective conversion device has a cascade starter generator for direct conversion of the supplied electrical power to mechanical power, wherein the cascade starter generator has a first stator, a second stator, a first rotor and a second rotor, the first stator being integrally formed with the second stator and the first rotor being integrally formed with the second rotor. The present invention further relates to an aircraft comprising such a power distribution network and a method for supplying mechanical power to start at least one engine in an aircraft.
