A system and method carried out over a mobile wireless network are described for performing beam pair (BP) and end-to-end (E2E) network slice selection for supporting an invoked service on a mobile equipment (ME). The method includes establishing an initial BP with a radio access network (RAN) node, using an available link policy, enabling communicating a request to the RAN node including an indication of a desired service level for a service invoked on the ME. The method further includes updating, in accordance with the indication of a desired service level, a link policy and an E2E slice policy by performing a reinforcement learning, wherein the link policy is used to select a BP for the ME for a given ME mobility pattern, and wherein the E2E network slice policy is used to select an E2E network slice for the desired service level for the service invoked on the ME.

Reinforcement learning machine learning-assisted beam pair selection for handover in radio access networks

An affective computing server (ACS) is described herein that is incorporated into a mobile wireless network management infrastructure. The ACS is configured to carry out a method over a mobile wireless network for maintaining a comfort status of a user of a wearable device. The ACS registers the wearable device associated with the user. The ACS receives, via a mobile wireless technology link, a user comfort status profile (UCSP) message issued by the wearable device, where the UCSP message includes at least a parameter value indicative of the comfort status of the user. The ACS processes the UCSP message to render a comfort control request based upon the UCSP. The ACS causes a sending of the comfort control request over a mobile wireless technology to an actuator (e.g. a heating/air conditioning system) for affecting a change in the comfort status of the user of the wearable device.

The described embodiments of the present invention include a method for controlling authorization of a multimedia service requested by a user device. In one embodiment, the method includes examining an identity of an access network associated with the user device and an identity of the service requested to determine whether the service is supported; authorizing resources in the access network required by the service if the service is supported; rejecting the service if the service is not supported and if a policy associated with the access network requires unsupported services to be rejected; and authorizing a default level of resources in the access network if the service is not supported and if the policy associated with the access network does not require unsupported services to be rejected.

A traffic control device (TCD) is described for managing control of multiple right of way passages at a traffic intersection. The TCD includes a mobile wireless interface for communicating with an in-vehicle mobile wireless device (IV-MWD) to receive a commuter profile (CP) containing a subscribed switch time interval (SSTI). The TCD determines a set of passage priority values for respective ones of a set of controlled right of way passages. The TCD selects, based upon the set of passage priority values, a highest priority one of the set of controlled right of way passages as a next controlled right of way passage granted passage. The TCD resets a timer duration value associated with a next controlled right of way passage period, executes a right of way passage switch. Thereafter, the TCD maintains a current switch status of the traffic control device for a period corresponding to the timer duration value.

The home IV-SCG detects a triggering condition causing the home IV-SCG to seek out an alternative data communications path for the current data communications path. Thereafter, the home IV-SCG selects a partner neighboring SCG, from the neighboring SCG list, through which the alternative communications path passes, based upon a handover criterion based upon at least a capacity of individual ones of the set of neighboring SCG nodes to support current data communication requirements of a registered mobile wireless device.

A mobile wireless system and method are described for distributing emergency alert messages to mobile wireless devices in multiple languages. The emergency alert system receives an alert message including a geographic area identification, and a text alert. The emergency alert system renders one or more translations of the text alert from the text alert. The one or more translated versions of the text alert are provided in particular foreign languages based upon designated foreign languages corresponding to the geographic area identification. The emergency alert system transmits the text alert and one or more translated text alerts commercial mobile wireless service provider networks for broadcasting the text alert and the translated text alert(s) via mobile wireless transmitters having a coverage area falling within a region corresponding to the geographic area identification.

System and method for delivering mobile wireless broadcast messages in designated languages

A system and method are described whereby an enhanced handoff scheme provides for monitoring of mobile device conditions and network conditions associated with a current access network attachment, as well as with a plurality of access networks on a preferred access network list, to proactively initiate a handoff operation, thereby preserving the QoS constraints necessary for seamless delivery of IP multimedia services. In an embodiment, each of the plurality of access networks is connected to an IMS core network, whereby a policy function receives quality of service constraints associated with the launched application from the mobile device and orders a list of preferred access networks accordingly. Preferably, the policy function selects an appropriate access gateway associated with a target access network based at least in part on the mobile device conditions reported by the mobile device and the access network conditions monitored by the policy function.

A system and method for measuring and recording latency in data networks. The system and method can be used to measure and record latency in a Simple IP network or a Mobile IP network. One embodiment of the present invention is a system and method for measuring latency between a first device and a second device, the first and second devices communicating in accordance with a communications specification. The system and method comprises the second device transmitting, during a communication session, a message to the first device; receiving a response message from the first device; computing an elapsed time from transmission of the message to receipt of the response message to determine the latency; and recording the latency in a latency parameter. The message and the response message are provided by the communications specification.

The present invention reduces latencies in a wireless network while decreasing bandwidth usage in the wireless network for mobile stations. The wireless network monitors the current access network identifier for a mobile station. Upon detecting a change in current access network identifier due to movement of the mobile station, the wireless network generates and transmits one or more messages containing the changed current access network identifier. The messages are subsequently processed and a portion of the wireless system registrar database corresponding to the mobile station is updated to reflect the change in current access network identifier. Based upon the change in the location of the mobile station, the wireless network invokes or ends corresponding location-based options.
