A cranium bracing system includes a strut mount adapter and a bracing strut, wherein the strut mount adapter is adapted to connect the bracing strut to a cranium hole base member which is rigidly connected to a patient's cranium. The strut mount adapter includes a first connecting section with one or more engaging members configured to engage with the correspondingly formed cranium hole base member to fixedly connect the strut mount adapter to the cranium hole base member. The strut mount adapter further includes a second connecting section configured to engage with a correspondingly formed connecting section of the bracing strut to connect the strut mount adapter to the bracing strut, and a passage extending through the strut mount adapter and having a first passage opening at the first connecting section and an opposed second passage opening.

Determining a configuration of a medical x-ray imaging system for detecting a marker device

A method of determining a focal length of a camera and/or of adjusting a viewing direction in a graphical representation of a pre-operative image is provided. The method includes providing uncalibrated camera data of a camera, specifying an initial value of a focal length of the camera, specifying a working distance value of a distance between the camera and the at least part of the tracking system, calculating a distance value of the distance between the camera and the at least part of the tracking system based on the uncalibrated camera data and based on the specified initial value of the focal length of the camera, calculating a change factor based on the specified working distance value and the calculated distance value, and calculating an adapted value of the focal length of the camera based on the initial value of the focal length and based on the change factor.

Intra-operative determination of a focal length of a camera for medical applications

Disclosed is a computer-implemented method of determining a spatial relationship between planning image data and current surface data which leads to improved surface registration accuracy by considering the elasticity and deformability of the tissue. The knowledge about the tissue can be estimated based on type of tissue and atlas information. For the process of generating surface registration points on specific anatomical regions, e.g. the face or forehead, are acquired with a classical navigated pointer or laser pointer. It is also possible to acquire points with surface scanners. Confidence values defining a probability for certain parts of the surface registration points being deformed in comparison to a planning image are read from atlas data and used to compensate for the deformation in the registration between the surface registration points and the planning image in order to render the registration valid.

Deformity-weighted registration of medical images

Provided is a method that encompasses the determination of a virtual trajectory within a virtual representation of a patient's anatomy, wherein the trajectory is defined by a user's visual axis relative to the three-dimensional virtual representation of the patient's anatomy. The method includes acquiring image data which describes the three-dimensional virtual representation of the patient's body part, acquiring position data which describes a spatial position of a user's visual axis within a virtual-world co-ordinate system, determining visualization data based on the image data and the position data, and determining virtual-world trajectory data based on the position data.

The present disclosure relates to an optical observation device which is controlled in a sterility preserving manner, and to a corresponding controlling program and/or program storage medium. The optical observation device includes a main structure having at least one optical camera, a support structure adapted to variably position the main structure, and a control unit that receives a sequence of images from the at least one optical camera, searches a current image from the sequence of images for a trackable object, tracks the trackable object shown in the sequence of images subsequent to the current image; and controls adjustable properties of AR-content superimposed with the sequence of images in accordance with a motion of the trackable object, wherein the adjustable properties of the AR-content include a location, orientation, and/or size of the AR-content with respect to the sequence of images.

The present application relates to an optical observation device which is controlled in a sterility preserving manner, and to a corresponding controlling program and/or program storage medium. The optical observation device includes a main structure having at least one optical camera, a motorized support for positioning the main structure, and a control unit that receives a sequence of images from the at least one optical camera, searches a current image from the sequence of images for a trackable object, tracks the trackable object shown in the sequence of images subsequent to the current image, and controls the motorized support structure.

A medical tracking method for tracking a spatial position of a medical instrument within a medical workspace including an anatomical structure of a patient. The method includes: acquiring, using a first camera targeted on the medical workspace, instrument position data describing a spatial position of the medical instrument with respect to a first camera; acquiring, using a second camera and at least one optical tracking marker that is adapted to be recognized by the second camera, camera position data describing a spatial position of the first camera with respect to the anatomical structure, determining, based on the instrument position data and the camera position data, tracking data describing the spatial position of the medical instrument with respect to the anatomical structure; and tracking the spatial position of the medical instrument within the medical workspace using the tracking data.

Optical tracking

This document relates to a medical application of augmented reality in which areal image shows a medical device, or at least a part thereof. In an exemplary application, the real image further shows at least a part of a patient's body which is (to be) treated using the medical device. A part of the medical device might not be visible in the real image, for example because it extends into or behind the patient's body. In this case, the virtual image can comprise an augmentation of the medical device, which, for example, represents at least the part of the medical device which is invisible in the real image. This document in particular addresses a correct alignment of the augmentation with the medical device.

Generation of augmented reality image of a medical device

A computer implemented method and a system for registering and tracking an anatomical structure of a patient. A method includes acquiring a first stereoscopic image dataset including video images having different viewing angles, and providing a first image content showing the anatomical structure; registering the first image dataset to a 3D image dataset showing the anatomical structure; acquiring a second stereoscopic image dataset comprising video images having different viewing angles and providing a second image content showing the anatomical structure, which differs from the first image content; and tracking the anatomical structure based on the second image dataset.
