The present invention provides uses of aryl alkyl malononitrile compounds of formula (I), or veterinarily acceptable salts thereof, for controlling and preventing parasite infestations in animals. The invention also provides methods for controlling and preventing parasite infestation in animals comprising administering an effective amount of at least one aryl alkyl malononitrile compound of formulae (I), or a veterinarily acceptable salt thereof, to the animal.

Use of malononitrile compounds for protecting animals from parasites

The present invention relates to a method for controlling invertebrate pests which method comprises treating the pests, their food supply, their habitat or their breeding ground or a plant, seed, soil, area, material or environment in which the pests are growing or may grow, or the materials, plants, seeds, soils, surfaces or spaces to be protected from pest attack or infestation with a pesticidally effective amount of a pyrazole compound of formulae I or II or a salt or an N-oxide thereof, wherein A is a pyrazole radical of the formulae A1 or A2, wherein # denotes the binding; D is a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic radical fused to the pyrazole moiety; R, Rand Rare H, halogen, CN, NO, C-C-alkyl, C-C-alkenyl, C-C-alkynyl, etc.; n is 0 to 4; or two radicals Rbound to the same ring-member may form an oxo substituent, or two radicals Rbound to adjacent ring-members may form a 3- to 7-membered fused cyclic radical; B is N or CR, wherein Ris H, halogen, CN, NO, C-C-alkyl, C-C-haloalkyl, C-C-alkoxy, etc.; Xis S, O or NR, wherein Ris H, C-C-alkyl, etc.; Xis O, NRRor S(O)R, wherein m is 0, 1 or 2; Ris C-C-alkyl, C-C-haloalkyl, C-C-cycloalkyl, etc.; R, Rare H, C-C-alkyl, C-C-haloalkyl, C-C-cycloalkyl, etc.; Ris C-C-alkyl, C-C-haloalkyl, C-C-cycloalkyl, etc.; Ris H, CN, C-C-alkyl, C-C-haloalkyl, C-C-cycloalkyl, etc.; R, Rand Rare H, halogen, CN, NO, C-C-alkyl, C-C-haloalkyl, C-C-alkoxy, etc., to a method for protecting plant propagation material and/or the plants which grow threfrom, to plant propagation material comprising at least one compound of formulae I or II, to a method for treating or protecting an animal from infestation or infection by parasites, to novel pyrazole compounds of formulae I or II and agricultural composition containing those compounds. 

Pyrazole compounds for controlling invertebrate pests

The present invention relates to pyrazole compounds of formulae I or II and the salts and N-oxides thereof, wherein A is a pyrazole radical of formulae A1, A2 or A3, wherein # denotes the binding site; R, R, R, Rare H, halogen, CN, NO, C-C-alkyl and the like; R, Rare H, halogen, CN, NO, C-C-alkyl, and the like; R, R, Rare H, CN, NO, C-C-alkyl, and the like; T is C(R) or N; U is C(R) or N; V is C(R) or N; W is C(R) or N; with the proviso that at least one of the groups T, U, V and W is N; R, R, R, Rare H, halogen, C-C-alkyl and the like; Xis S, O or NR, wherein Ris selected H, C-C-alkyl and the like; Xis OR, NRR, S(O)R, wherein m is 0, 1 or 2, Ris C-C-alkyl, C-C-haloalkyl and the like, R, Rare H, C-C-alkyl, C-C-haloalkyl and the like, or Rand Rtogether with the nitrogen atom to which they are bound form a heterocycle, and Ris C-C-alkyl, C-C-haloalkyl, C-C-cycloalkyl and the like; and Ris H, CN, C-C-alkyl and the like.The present invention further relates to a method for controlling invertebrate pests, to a method for protecting plant propagation material and/or the plants which grow therefrom, to plan propagation material, comprising at least one compound according to the present invention, to a method for treating or protecting an animal from infestation or infection by parasites and to an agricultural composition containing at least one compound according to the present invention.
