A medical capsule with a sensor device comprising a light emitting element and a light detecting element with the sensor device being adapted to detect the presence or non-presence of blood and/or Biliverdin based on the light absorption properties of blood and Biliverdin. The capsule is provided with a casing forming a gap at its outer surface. The light emitting element alternatively emits violet light of a wavelength of about 380-450 nm, green light of a wavelength of about 530-580 nm, and red light of a wavelength of about 620-750 nm, whereas the light detecting element generates a separate sensor signal associated with measured light intensities I, I, and Iof at least each of the wavelength ranges of the light from the light emitting element. By evaluating a quotient I/I, false-positive detection of blood can be avoided. The present disclosure also relates to a calibration method for said medical capsule.

Medical capsule including an activation circuit

A tissue clip application fitting set or retrofitting set includes a cap attachment for placement on the distal head of a medical endoscope, which has a placement section and a tissue clip holding section. The cap attachment is notched at least at two angular positions forming at least two notches/slots/grooves. A working channel leads into the hollow chamber and exits the hollow chamber radially in a region distal to the placement section and proximal to the radially supported tissue clip. A first guiding or leading element is arranged after the working channel belonging to the retrofitting set, as seen in the distal direction. A corresponding second guiding or leading element is arranged within the hollow chamber at an angular distance from the first guiding or leading element so as to be oriented in extension to a working channel belonging to the endoscope.

Tissue clip application fitting/retrofitting set

A medical capsule is equipped with a sensor device having light emitting and light receiving elements. The sensor device can detect blood on the basis of light absorption properties of the blood. The capsule has a casing forming a recess or gap at its outer surface. The recess has a pre-selected width which represents a fixed measuring track between the light emitting and light receiving elements being arranged at opposing sides of the recess or gap when seen in its width direction. The medical capsule also has a shielding plate/layer/membrane arranged at least at or near the bottom of the recess or gap and extending along the width direction of the recess or gap preferably to exceed the recess at both sides into its width direction to prohibit emitted light from bypassing the recess via the casing material of the capsule.

The present invention is directed to an endoscopic implant cutting and/or fragmenting apparatus of the bipolar type, operating on direct current, comprising an endoscope instrument having at least two opposing electrodes at its distal instrument head forming a cutting gap inbetween for receiving an electrically conductive implant or implant section to generate punctiform physical contact with the implant, and a DC-impulse generator connected to a control device adapted to generate a direct current in a pulsed way such that in a first phase of physical contact, the current pulse is adjusted to induce electric energy into the implant material being sufficient to melt the implant material exclusively in the area of the contact portion and in a second phase of physical noncontact, the current pulse is adjusted to generate an electric arc between at least one electrode and the melted implant material being sufficient to cut the melted implant material.

A minimally invasive surgical implant-cutting instrument of the bipolar type, operated with direct current, with an instrument head which is located at the distal end of an instrument shank, wherein at least two mutually opposing instrument branches, preferably of the linear type, are arranged on the instrument head and between them define a cutting gap for receiving an electrically conductive implant or implant section between them. The electrodes are formed on the mutually facing longitudinal sides of the branches or these are each equipped with at least one electrode, which electrodes are in turn shaped at their mutually facing longitudinal sides to form a cutting edge in order to effect a quasi-linear or punctiform physical contact engagement with the electrically conductive implant or implant section for an electrical short circuit of the mutually opposing electrodes.

A capsule endomicroscope has a predetermined axial length and a diameter smaller than the axial length. The endomicroscope can acquire images of a surface of a hollow organ, and includes a microscopic image acquisition assembly having an optical axis oriented in a radial direction of the endomicroscope to acquire microscopic images of a section of the surface of a hollow organ present in a predetermined image acquisition area on a radial outer surface of the endomicroscope through a housing of the endomicroscope that has sectionally light-transparent material. A light source emits light rays in a radial direction through the light-transparent material of the housing during image acquisition. The light source and the light-transparent material of the housing located between the light source and the predetermined image acquisition area are interconnected to each other such that no refraction interface exists between the light source and the image acquisition area.

Capsule endomicroscope for acquiring images of the surface of a hollow organ

A magnetic guiding device (robotics) for an intracorporeal object includes a motor-driven positioning device having a maximum of three degrees of freedom to be activated for translational motion of a connecting interface of the positioning device to which a magnetic end effector is connected or connectable, the latter including a maximum of two degrees of freedom to be activated for rotational motion of a magnetic field generator. At least one of the two degrees of freedom of the magnetic end effector is encased in an effector housing.

Magnetic end effector and device for guiding and positioning the same

An endoscope-like implanting instrument includes an endoscope cap having a holding and withdrawing mechanism for a tissue clip adapted to be slipped onto an expanding sleeve of the endoscope cap. The endoscope cap has a front groove opening at the front edge of the sleeve. A withdrawing thread radially crosses the front groove at an axial front cap portion. The instrument further includes a tissue grasping mechanism being shiftably inserted into the working channel for manually grasping and drawing the tissue inside the endoscope cap. A clamping mechanism is integrally arranged inside the endoscope cap in axial extension to the working channel, holding a capsule-like device and connected with the tissue clip via a thread, band or string such that the capsule-like device will be automatically detached by the grasping mechanism when being manually actuated for tissue grasping.

Implanting apparatus

A surgical manipulator includes an intracorporeal unit that is completely arrangeable within a body cavity and that includes a coupling member and an effector. An extracorporeal unit includes a manipulator to manipulate at least the effector, and a connecting unit for connecting the intracorporeal unit to the extracorporeal unit when the intracorporeal unit is arranged within the body cavity and for transferring manipulating activities from the extracorporeal unit to the intracorporeal unit.

The present invention discloses a magnet driven capsule type endoscope comprising an image recording unit as well as an image data processing unit, a position sensor for providing data about the position of the capsule type endoscope with respect to the direction of gravitation, a data transmitting unit, an energy source for supplying the units and the sensor with energy and a permanent magnet. In accordance with the invention, the permanent magnet is arranged offset with respect to the center of gravity and to the geometrical center of the capsule type endoscope.

Medical instrument

The medical implant for treating pathological obesity is adapted to modify and, as an alternative, to bypass the natural food passage in the digestive tract. The implant permits an adjustable bypassing of food into the small intestine and/or into the stomach (natural digestive path). Since the ratio of this bypass is adjustable in the course of the treatment by the physician, e.g. with the aid of an endoscope, for the first time a balance between the therapeutic effect and the side-effects can be adapted individually to each patient by the use of the implant. The implant has a hollow body with first and a second tubular end portions and at least one third lateral opening having a hose-like extension. The individual at least partly closable hose-like extensions differ in their ability to allow the passage of food into the stomach. Closing individual hose-like extensions at least partially by means of an endoscope leads to an individually adjustable distribution of food between the stomach and the small-intestine loop.

Medical implant

A device for hemorrhage detection comprising a detector for detecting the presence of blood, the detector being connected to a fixing, apparatus. The fixing apparatus is fixed to the inner wall of a hollow organ. The device further has a transmitting unit by which data transmitted by the detector are adapted to be transmitted to a receiving unit disposed outside the body.
