One method includes transmitting, by a processor of a seat device of an aircraft coupled to a peripheral bar assembly having a plurality of programmable light sources, one or more commands to the peripheral bar assembly to operate one or more of the light sources; and operating, by the peripheral bar assembly, the one or more light sources, in response to the one or more commands to indicate non-verbal communication associated with the aircraft.

Innovative peripheral bar assembly for a transportation vehicle is provided. The assembly includes a front bar housing with a front segment and a rear segment, and a through slot aligned with a diffuser operationally coupled to a first surface of an I/O PCB having a plurality of light sources emitting light that is transmitted through the diffuser and the slot. The assembly further includes a rear bar housing having a front segment and a rear segment, the front segment of the rear bar housing coupled to the rear segment of the front bar housing. A top surface of the peripheral bar assembly is coupled to a bottom of a chassis of a display system having a display module. The assembly configured to provide accent lighting through the slot of the front bar housing.

One method includes retrieving, by a processor of a seat device of an aircraft coupled to a removable, peripheral bar assembly having a plurality of programmable, light emitting diodes (LEDs), configuration information to operate the LEDs; transmitting, by the processor, one or more commands to the peripheral bar assembly to operate one or more of the LEDs; and operating, by the peripheral bar assembly, the one or more LEDs, in response to the one or more commands to indicate non-verbal communication based on one or more pre-defined communication protocols indicating a seat-by-seat status.

A method of operation for a system incorporating a graphical user interface embedded in a knob disposed on a side ledge within a cabin of an aircraft includes displaying a menu for at least one controllable parameter, receiving a selection of the controllable parameter, displaying at least one control for the selected controllable parameter, receiving a control input for the selected controllable parameter, and adjusting the selected controllable parameter consistent with the control input. The controllable parameter comprises a plurality of controllable parameters selected from a group comprising light intensity, light color, temperature, media type, media content, media volume, and the degree of openness of at least one window shade. A knob and an executable computer program product also are provided.

A method of operation for a system incorporating a graphical user interface disposed in a bulkhead within a cabin of an aircraft. The method includes displaying a menu for at least one controllable parameter, receiving a selection of the controllable parameter, displaying at least one control for the selected controllable parameter, receiving a control input for the selected controllable parameter, and adjusting the selected controllable parameter consistent with the control input. The controllable parameter may be one from a plurality of controllable parameters selected from a group that includes cabin light intensity, cabin light color, temperature, and the degree of openness of at least one window shade. A system and an executable computer program product also are provided.

System and a method of operation of the system incorporating a graphical user interface in a bulkhead of a vehicle cabin

An aircraft passenger seat assembly as described herein is formed from two primary and modular components: a structural frame that provides passenger support and dynamic load paths for the seat assembly; and a comfort frame that provides the passenger seating surface and the external upholstery layer for the seat assembly. If the seat assembly is designed for multiple passengers, then a separate comfort frame is used for each passenger seat location. The structural frame can be formed as a molded composite construction, and the comfort frame can also utilize a molded composite support frame. The support frame is used as a mounting shell for a fabric carrier that includes the external upholstery layer. The modular design and use of composite materials results in a significant weight and parts count savings relative to conventional seat designs.

An aircraft galley is disclosed having a stand-alone beverage station and a stand-alone food preparation station. Each station is equipped with extendable work decks and integrated equipment for plug and play exchange. The beverage station is equipped with brewing stations and a top loading refuse compartment, and the food preparation station is configured with multiple ovens and refrigeration units. The galley further includes a side refrigeration unit which can be used as a self-service beverage area for passengers, and both stations may further be configured with LED displays for communicating with passengers.

The distributed architecture includes a processor, a controller operatively connected to the processor, a passenger IO node operatively connected to the controller, and a crew IO node operatively connected to the controller. The passenger IO node and the crew IO node are capable of controlling at least one of light intensity in the aircraft cabin, color of light in the aircraft cabin, temperature in the vehicle cabin, and a degree of openness of one or more window shades in the aircraft cabin. A method and an executable computer program product also are provided.
