The invention relates to a manufacturing device for the additive manufacturing of a three-dimensional object and a corresponding method. The object is manufactured by applying a building material in layer-wise form and selectively solidifying the building material at points corresponding to the cross-section of the object. The points are scanned with at least one exposure area, and, during operation, a movable gas inlet approaches a reference process point and/or a target flow supply zone assigned to the reference process point for the flow supply with the process gas, and the process gas is discharged via a stationary gas outlet.

Manufacturing device and method for additive manufacturing with movable gas flow supply

A flow device serves for a 3D printer. The device includes a gas conveying device for generating a gas stream and a process chamber with a build area for building the object. The process chamber includes a first gas inlet for introducing a gas stream into the process chamber, and a first gas outlet and a second gas outlet for discharging the gas stream. The first gas outlet is arranged closer to the build area than the second gas outlet in a direction perpendicular to the build area, and the first gas outlet is provided substantially within a lower third of a distance of the build area from a process chamber ceiling a first height range of the process chamber with respect to its extension in a direction perpendicular to the build area and the second gas outlet is provided substantially within the upper four fifths of the distance of the build area from the process chamber ceiling.

Device and method for generatively producing a three-dimensional object

Disclosed is a flow device for an additive manufacturing device. The device includes a gas supply line located outside the process chamber to conduct gas to a gas inlet. The gas supply line includes a first line section extending in a first extension direction and a maximum width that extends transverse to the first extension direction and parallel to the build area. A length of the first line section is at least half as large as the maximum value of the width. The first line section also includes a first subsection spaced from the gas inlet and including a first flow conditioning unit and a wall of the first line section. The first flow conditioning unit substantially aligns the gas stream in the first extension direction.

In a method of providing a flow for a process chamber of a device for producing a three-dimensional object by layer-wise application and selective solidification of a building material in a build area a process gas is supplied to the process chamber in a lower altitude region of the process chamber, wherein the process chamber includes a gas inlet for introducing the process gas into the process chamber and a gas outlet for discharging the process gas from the process chamber. The gas inlet and the gas outlet are provided in the lower altitude region of the process chamber and the process gas flows in a main flow from the gas inlet to the gas outlet, and wherein a secondary flow is located in a sub-region of the lower altitude region, which sub-region is located above a bottom surface of the process chamber surrounding the build area.

Method for providing a flow for an additive manufacturing device

The invention refers to a method of generatively manufacturing a three-dimensional object () in a process chamber () of a generative manufacturing apparatus () by a layer-by-layer application and selective solidification of a building material () within a build area () arranged in the process chamber. In the course of this, while the object is being manufactured, a process gas is supplied to the process chamber by means of a gas supply device and is discharged from the process chamber via an outlet (). According to the invention, the gas supply device is designed and/or arranged relatively to the build area and/or controlled such that a gas stream () of the process gas streaming through the process chamber is shaped in such a manner that a substantially elongate oval impingement area (A) of the gas stream () is generated within the build area ().
