Signal of inputs made by a finger on a touch-sensitive capacitive operating element are evaluated by calculating a finger position from sensor strokes of individual capacitive sensors. The calculated finger position is not output if a difference between the maximum and minimum sensor stroke of the sensors is smaller than a preset value or smaller than the error tolerance of the sensors. The finger position is output if the difference between the maximum and minimum sensor stroke of the sensors is greater than the first preset value and if the sensor stroke of a sensor closest to the detected finger position at the edge of the touch-sensitive capacitive operating element is smaller than a second preset value.

Signal evaluation method

A method and device for selecting input fields displayed on a screen and/or for activating input content displayed in a selected input field on the screen by manual inputs into an input area of an input interface. The input interface is designed for the haptic input of gestures into the input area, in order to control the selection of an input field, and for the activation of input content of a selected input field by triggering an electrical switching function of the input interface by means of exerting a predefined minimum force on the input area. A displacement vector V(POS(t),POS(t)) is determined from determined input positions POS(t),POS(t) of a manual, continuous input of gestures into the input area at a first point in time tand a second point in time t, where t:=time and t<t. An absolute value |F(t)| of a surface area F(t), with which the manual gesture input acts on the input area is determined. Provided that: |F(t)|<|F(t)|: the input field adjacent or at least closest to a position POS(POS(t)) associated with the position POS(t) on the screen as seen in the direction of the displacement vector V(POS(t),POS(t)) is selected. Triggering the electrical switching function at the point in time tactivates a function associated with the input content of this input field, and, provided that (|F(t)|>|F(t)|), the displacement vector V(POS(t),POS(t)) is disregarded and the function associated with the position POS(POS(t)) is activated.

Method and device for selecting input fields displayed on a screen and/or for activating input content displayed in a selected input field on the screen by means of manual inputs

A method for generating a haptic feedback on a display area operable by finger movements involves sensing a position of a finger on the display area and modulating a coefficient of friction between the finger and the display area is modulated depending on the position. The touchdown positions of two fingers are determined and the friction between each of the fingers and the display area is changed depending on a distance from the touchdown positions of the fingers simultaneously touching the surface.
