A system and method for operating a motor vehicle with an electric parking brake. The system includes a clutch sensor, generating a clutch sensor signal representing operation of a clutch of the motor vehicle. A gear selection sensor generates a sensor signal indicating a particular gear selection or position of a manual gearbox of the motor vehicle. Using these and if needed other various inputs, the system generates a deactivation signal for releasing the electric parking brake when a clutch operation is detected and the vehicle gearbox is positioned or has a gear selection other than a neutral position of the manual gearbox.

System and method for operating a motor vehicle with an electric parking brake

A method to operate a motor vehicle having a number of wheels is described. The method determines a steering angle for an automotive application. A steering angle &#x3b4; is estimated using a yaw rate &#x3c9;, a revolution rate of at least one wheel, a wheelbase L and a characteristic speed of the vehicle vbased on a single-track model. Preferably, the steering angle is calculated using the yaw rate &#x3c9;, the selected gear i, the wheelbase L, the speed v and the characteristic speed of the vehicle vaccording to the formula &#x3b4;=[&#x3c9;*i*L*(1+v/v)]/v. An application, such as adaptive light control during turns, that requires knowledge of the steering angle of the motor vehicle is carried out based on an estimated steering angle.

Determining a steering angle for an automobile application

A hill start assist system for a motor vehicle including a control system using sensor data from at least one sensor to provide the hill start assist with improved response behavior. The control system activating the hill start assist automatically and independently of whether the motor vehicle is on an upward incline depending on sensor data from the sensor indicating a local upward gradient in a driving surface in a region of a vehicle axle.

Determining a brake torque reduction parameter for brake torque reduction in a motor vehicle having a brake holding assist function. The determination including detecting a motion parameter of the motor vehicle and analyzing the detected motion parameter to determine a correction value for a brake torque reduction parameter. Adjusting the brake torque reduction parameter using the correction value determines an optimized brake torque reduction parameter. The optimized brake torque reduction parameter is used as a brake torque reduction parameter of the brake torque reduction.
