A steering column for a steer-by-wire steering system may include a casing unit in which a steering spindle is received such that the steering spindle is rotatable about a longitudinal axis. The casing unit may have an inner casing tube, which is rotatable and longitudinally displaceable, received coaxially in an outer casing tube. The steering spindle may have a longitudinally displaceable inner shaft that is received coaxially in an outer shaft in a torque-transmitting manner. The steering spindle may be coupled to a drive unit of a feedback actuator that has an electric motor for the generation and introduction of a feedback torque into the steering spindle. The drive unit has a recess that is arranged coaxially with respect to the longitudinal axis, is open toward the outer shaft, and has a maximum inscribed internal diameter that is greater than an external diameter of the outer shaft.

Steering column for a steer-by-wire steering system for a motor vehicle

A steering column for a steer-by-wire steering system include a steering shaft that is connectable to a steering wheel and is received in an inner steering column tube such that the steering shaft is rotatable about a longitudinal axis. An outer steering column tube may receive the inner tube such that the inner tube can be displaced along the longitudinal axis. The outer tube may be connectable to a vehicle chassis. The steering column may also include a feedback actuator having an electric motor that drives the steering shaft via a drive component that is connected to the steering shaft for the transmission of torque. The drive component may have a recess with a maximum inscribed diameter that is greater than an external diameter of the inner tube, and the recess may be disposed on a side of the drive component that faces the inner tube.

A steering column for a motor vehicle includes a steering shaft rotatably mounted in a steering column housing about a longitudinal axis, and a rotation limiter. The rotation limiter has a stop disk which is connected to the steering shaft to transmit torque. The stop disk includes at least one recess extending in the circumferential direction, such that the steering shaft is coupled to a lifting mechanism, with a stop pin, which is mounted displaceably in the direction of the longitudinal axis and non-displaceably in the circumferential direction and engages with the recess depending on the rotational angle of the steering shaft such that, when the permitted rotational angle of the steering shaft is reached, the stop pin strikes against a boundary of the recess, the boundary lying in the circumferential direction, and prevents further rotation in the same direction of rotation.

A steering column for a motor vehicle includes a steering shaft, mounted rotatably about a longitudinal axis in a steering column housing, and a rotation limiter, and has a smooth and quiet construction of the rotation limiter. The rotation limiter includes two oppositely directed flat spiral springs, which are operatively arranged between a coupling part, disposed in a rotationally secure manner on the steering shaft, and the steering column housing.

A displaceable steering column for motor vehicles may include an actuating unit in which a steering shaft is rotatably mounted. The actuating unit may be displaceable relative to a holding unit in the axial direction of the steering shaft, and optionally in the vertical direction, and can be clamped by means of a clamping device so that the actuating unit is fixed in an non-displaceable manner when the motor vehicle is operating normally. The steering column may also include an energy absorption device disposed between the actuating unit and the holding unit, which in the event of a vehicle crash absorbs at least part of the energy applied to the steering column by material deformation of an energy absorber. The energy absorption device may have a central portion on which an energy absorber is disposed and is engaged with the actuating unit. The central portion may be connected to a clamping portion that can be clamped by the clamping device.

A motor vehicle steering system includes a steering wheel hub which has a longitudinal axis and can be attached coaxially on a rotatably mounted steering spindle, and a steering wheel rim which is attached on the steering wheel hub at a radial spacing from the longitudinal axis and extends in a planar manner transversely with respect to the longitudinal axis. The steering wheel rim is mounted on the steering wheel hub in a bearing such that it can be inclined with respect to the longitudinal axis between an operating position and a stowed position about an inclination axis which lies transversely with respect to the longitudinal axis. The steering wheel rim is inclined at a flatter angle with respect to the longitudinal axis in the stowed position than when in the operating position.

An adjustable steering column for a steer-by-wire steering device may include an actuating unit that comprises a steering spindle mounted rotatably about a longitudinal axis in a casing unit. The casing unit may have a first casing tube in which a second casing tube is arranged in a rotationally fixed manner with respect to the longitudinal axis and is mounted so as to be movable axially in a telescopic fashion. An actuating drive is connected to the first casing tube and the second casing tube and can move the second casing tube relative to the first casing tube. The actuating drive may comprise a spindle drive with a threaded spindle that is parallel to the longitudinal axis, rotatably drivable by a servomotor, supported on and extending within the first casing tube, and screwed into a spindle nut attached in a rotationally fixed manner to the second casing tube.

Steering column for a steer-by-wire steering device

A steering column may include an adjustment unit with a steering spindle mounted rotatably about its longitudinal axis in a casing tube, a support unit in which the adjustment unit is mounted so as to be adjustable along the longitudinal axis, and a stop device with a movably mounted stop element positionable in a blocking position and a release position. In the blocking position the stop element limits the adjustment travel of the adjustment unit relative to the support unit. In the release position, the stop element allows adjustability in the direction of the longitudinal axis beyond the adjustment travel limited in the blocking position. The stop device has an actuation body that has an inert mass, is actively connected to the stop element, and is mounted movably relative to the support unit. In a crash event, the mass inertia of the actuation body causes it to interact with the stop element to move the stop element from the blocking position into the release position.

A steering column may include an adjustment unit with a steering spindle that is mounted rotatably about its longitudinal axis in a casing tube, a supporting unit that supports the adjustment unit, and a clamping device that controls movement between the adjustment unit and the supporting unit in a longitudinal direction. The clamping device may comprise an actuating element that interacts with a clamping mechanism for clamping the supporting unit to the adjustment unit. The clamping device may further comprise a locking part. In the securing position a form-fitting element of the locking part engages non-displaceably in the longitudinal direction with a form-fitting element of an engagement part connected to the adjustment unit. In the release position the form-fitting element of the locking part may be spaced apart from the form-fitting element of the engagement part to release the adjustment unit. The actuating element may be connected to a lifting mechanism separate from the clamping mechanism. The lifting mechanism may be connected to the locking part and may convert actuation of the actuating element into a working stroke of the locking part. The working stroke of the lifting mechanism is assignable independently of a clamping stroke of the clamping mechanism.

A steering column may comprise an adjusting unit that holds a steering spindle rotatably mounted about a longitudinal axis, a holding unit that receives the adjusting unit, a clamping device that locks the adjusting unit relative to the holding unit in a fixing position and permits adjustment in an unlocked position, and an energy absorption element attached to the adjusting unit and extending through an opening of a wedging housing parallel to the longitudinal axis. The energy absorption element is longitudinally movable in the opening in the unlocked position and lockable within the opening in the fixing position. The opening may have a wedging section with inner wall regions that converge longitudinally. A wedging element is movable into the wedging section and disposed between the energy absorption element and the inner wall regions. The wedging element and the energy absorption element, measured transversely to the longitudinal direction, may be larger than a shortest cross section of the wedging section.

A steering column for a motor vehicle may comprise a steering column jacket with a jacket surface having a retaining segment. The retaining segment may at least partially surround a bearing for rotatably mounting a steering spindle about an axis of rotation. The retaining segment may have at least one tab that secures the bearing in the steering column jacket in a direction of the axis of rotation. The tab may be connected to the retaining segment of the steering column jacket along a bending edge. The bending edge may form a projection angle of at maximum 45&#xb0; with a projected axis of rotation. The free end of the tab is bent around the bending edge towards the axis of rotation.

An energy absorption device for a steering column for a motor vehicle may include a bending bracket for energy absorption in a crash event. The bending bracket may comprise a first fastening element and a second fastening element, with the first fastening element being displaceable relative to the second fastening element if, in a crash event, the bending bracket is deformed along a guide track delimited by a start and an end. The energy absorption device may further include one or more collision elements arranged on the guide track. An example collision element may interact with the first fastening element or an element on a retaining part that is secured to the first fastening element such that the collision element, the first fastening element, and/or the element on the retaining part are deformed and absorb additional energy.

Energy absorption device for a steering column

A steering column for a motor vehicle may include a support element, an adjusting element that is displaceable relative to the support element for the rotatable mounting of a steering spindle, and a locking device for locking the adjusting element relative to the support element in a crash event. The locking device may include a blocking element disposed on the support element, which can be brought into engagement with an engagement part of the adjusting element. Further, a switching element may be provided for bringing about the engaging of the blocking element in the engagement part in a crash event. The switching element may bring about the engaging based on its mass inertia.
