A directory server may proactively provide to a remote mobile phone (or similar device) recent contextual information associated with callers who are likely to call the remote mobile phone, such that the remote mobile phone is likely to have a local set of recent contextual data about a given caller when the caller places a call to the remote mobile phone (or visa versa). When an unknown caller calls the remote mobile phone, the directory server may use the caller's phone number to identify directory information and one or more social-network or similar accounts that are used as sources of contextual information about the caller.

Proactive caller-context systems and methods

Location-based searches for venues for a mobile computing device. An application server system may determine search results in response to a search query, comprising a search location, received from the mobile computing device. The application server system determines, for each search query, whether the search location is within a threshold distance from a location of the mobile computing device. If within the threshold distance, the application server system transmits search result data comprising, for each example venue in the search results, a distance of the venue to the location of the mobile computing device. If not within the threshold distance, the application server system transmits search result data comprising, for each venue in the search results, a distance of the venue to the search location.

Provision of location-based business information

Various embodiments are directed to systems and methods for determining a neighborhood location of a person using a mobile computing device. The mobile computing device may transmit its location to an application server system. The application server system may perform at least one search of a venue database over a plurality of venue categories considering the received location and may determine a neighborhood location of the mobile computing device based on results of the search.
