A method for operating a medical imaging apparatus includes acquiring an intensity distribution of an X-ray radiation by a first X-ray detector assigned to a first radiation source. A scattered radiation distribution of scattered radiation generated at the object is acquired by a second X-ray detector. A spatial distribution for the component of the scattered radiation is estimated based on the scattered radiation distribution acquired by the second X-ray detector. An intensity distribution of the component of the transmitted primary X-ray radiation is determined from the intensity distribution acquired by the first X-ray detector depending on the estimated spatial distribution.

Scattered radiation compensation for a medical imaging appliance

For a particularly interference-free recording of x-ray images, an x-ray imaging system that includes an x-ray source for irradiating an examination object positioned in an examination region with x-ray radiation, and an x-ray detector for converting the x-ray radiation into image data of the examination object is provided. The x-ray source and the x-ray detector are arranged on an adjustable mount. The x-ray imaging system also includes a metal detection apparatus for detecting metal objects that are arranged at least partially within a field of view of the x-ray detector. A corresponding method includes receiving an instruction to record at least one x-ray image, activating the metal detection apparatus, and scanning the field of view of the x-ray detector for metallic objects using the metal detection apparatus. X-ray imaging system and method for recording x-ray images

A system and method are provided for the reconstruction of medical image data using filtered backprojection with the use of a wavelet transformation. A filter function is applied to at least one part of an object using projection data captured with a detection device prior to backprojection.

Method and apparatus for the reconstruction of medical image data using filtered backprojection

A method and system are provided for at least symbolically reconstructing a reconstruction data set of at least one vessel segment in a vessel tree of a patient. Input data for the reconstruction comprises at least two two-dimensional angiographic projection images taken in different acquisition geometries. At least one first angiographic projection image showing the vessel segment is acquired. An evaluation measure is automatically determined for each first angiographic projection image using three-dimensional preliminary information for the vessel segment. The evaluation measure describes the suitability of the at least one angiographic projection image for reconstructing the reconstruction data set. When a quality criterion evaluating the evaluation measure is not fulfilled, at least one additional acquisition geometry is determined using the three-dimensional preliminary information and/or the evaluation measure. In each additional acquisition geometry, at least one second angiographic projection image is acquired. The reconstruction data set is reconstructed from the at least one second angiographic projection image and/or at least one of the at least one first angiographic projection image fulfilling a suitability criterion evaluating the evaluation measure.

Method for reconstructing a reconstruction data set of a vessel segment

A tomography system with a beam source and a detector that is adapted to carry out a scan. While the beam source is guided along a circular or helical first trajectory about an orbital axis, a rectangular sensor surface of the detector is guided at a distance from the beam source along a circular or helical second trajectory about the orbital axis. During the scan, a yaw angle between a perpendicular bisector of the sensor surface and the plane of rotation in which the beam source is currently located has a value of greater than 0&#xb0; and simultaneously smaller than 90&#xb0;.

Tomography for large volume 3D scans

A method for reconstructing a three-dimensional image dataset from two-dimensional projection images includes recording the projection images using a collimator downstream of an X-ray source. A local Laplace filter is initially applied to the projection data of the projection images during the reconstruction using filtered back-projection. After this, high-frequency spikes arising in the Laplace-filtered projection data at boundaries to the image region are removed by a spike filter, and a global residual filter is applied. A fit parameter describing a fit function approximating the projection data characteristic in the uncorrected projection images inside the image region is determined based on at least marginal values of the projection data present at the boundaries. Next, following on from the use of the residual filter, an additive correction of the residual-filtered projection data in the image region is performed with the fit function scaled by a scaling factor.
