Linear low-density polyethylene polymers used to form covering layers for cables are disclosed. Such polymers exhibit certain molecular weight distributions suitable to form the covering layers for the cable. The polymer can be crosslinked to exhibit suitable properties including retained elongation at break values and hot set values.

Linear low-density polyethylene polymers suitable for use on cables

A method of crosslinking a polyolefin resin with a silyl hydride crosslinking agent is disclosed. Crosslinkable compositions containing a polyolefin resin having about 0.9% to about 10% diene groups and a silyl hydride crosslinking agent are also disclosed.

Hydrosilylation crosslinking of polyolefin cable components

Water tree resistant cables are disclosed. The cables include a water tree resistant insulation shield and water tree resistant conductor shield. The insulation layer can be free of any water tree retardant additives. Methods of making and using the water tree resistant cables are further disclosed.

Water tree resistant cables

A cable including a conductor surrounded by a covering layer, the covering layer formed from a thermoplastic vulcanizate composition which includes a continuous phase and a dispersed phase. The continuous phase is formed of a thermoplastic polyolefin. The dispersed phase is formed of a cross-linked elastomeric polyolefin. The thermoplastic vulcanizate composition passes the Hot Creep Test at 150&#xb0; C. in accordance with UL 2556 (2013) and has a dielectric loss of 3 or less. Methods of forming cables with coverings are also disclosed.

Cables with improved coverings and methods of forming thereof

A conductive composition can include a polyolefin base polymer, a high structure carbon black and a low structure carbon black. The conductive composition can exhibit two or more of a thermal conductivity of about 0.27 W/mK or more when measured at about 75&#xb0; C., a volume resistivity of about 75 ohm-m or less when measured at about 90&#xb0; C. and an elongation at break of about 300% or more. Cables having coverings formed of such conductive compositions and methods of making such cables are also described herein.

Conductive compositions for jacket layers and cables thereof

A data cable can include a plurality of insulated conductors twisted into pairs, an intumescent tape surrounding one or more of the insulated conductors, and a jacket. Each of the plurality of insulated conductors includes a conductor and an insulation layer. Data cables being fluoropolymer-free or halogen free are also described herein.
