The present disclosure provides a composition. In an embodiment, the composition is an ethylene-based polymer composition formed by high pressure (greater or equal to 100 MPa) free radical polymerization. The composition includes ethylene monomer and a mixture of hydrocarbon-based molecules. Each hydrocarbon-based molecule includes three or more internal alkene groups.

Ethylene-based polymer composition with branching and process for producing the same

The present disclosure provides a process. In an embodiment, the process includes introducing an antifoulant into an ethylene feed of a reactor system. The reactor system includes the ethylene feed, a hyper-compressor, a preheater and a polymerization reactor. The ethylene feed is located upstream of the hyper-compressor. The antifoulant consists of an inhibitor, molecular oxygen, and optionally a solvent. As the ethylene feed is located upstream of the hyper-compressor, the process includes introducing the antifoulant into the ethylene feed upstream of the hyper-compressor. The process further includes adding a free radical initiator to the polymerization reactor. The process further includes polymerizing the ethylene in the polymerization reactor under high pressure free-radical polymerization conditions, and forming an ethylene-based polymer.

Antifoulant and process

The present disclosure provides a drag reducing agent. In an embodiment, the drag reducing agent includes a polymer and a liquid carrier. The polymer is composed of one or more C-Cα-olefin monomers. The polymer includes a residual amount of zirconium. The polymer has an absolute weight average molecular weight (Mw) greater than 1,300,000 g/mol and a (Mw/Mnfrom 1.3 to 3.0.

Drag reducing agent

A method for reducing fouling in an oligomerizing reactor that includes upgrading Cto Chydrocarbons within the oligomerizing reactor in the presence of a fouling inhibitor having a particle size Dof less than 100 μm and forming linear alpha olefins and polymer during the oligomerizing, wherein the fouling inhibitor changes the morphology of the polymer.

Methods for reducing fouling in upgrading reactors

The present disclosure provides an ethylene-based polymer composition formed by high pressure (greater or equal to 100 MPa) free radical polymerization. The ethylene-based polymer composition includes ethylene monomer and a mixture of hydrocarbon-based molecules, each hydrocarbon-based molecule comprising three or more terminal alkene groups. The ethylene-based polymer has a melt index (MI) from 0.1 to 1.0 g/10 min.

The present disclosure provides a composition. In an embodiment, the composition is an ethylene-based polymer composition formed by high pressure (greater or equal to 100 MPa) free radical polymerization. The ethylene-based polymer composition includes ethylene monomer and a mixture of hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene molecules (PB-OH). Each PB-OH molecule includes internal alkene groups and terminal alkene groups. Each PB-OH molecule has more internal alkene groups than terminal alkene groups.

The present disclosure provides an ethylene-based polymer. The ethylene-based polymer is formed from reacting, under polymerization conditions, ethylene monomer and bisallyl maleate ('BAIIM'). The present ethylene-based polymer with ethylene monomer and bisallyl maleate branching agent is interchangeably referred to as “BAIIM-PE.”

Disclosed herein is a system for solution polymerization comprising a reactor system that is operative to receive a monomer and to react the monomer to form a polymer; a plurality of devolatilization vessels located downstream of the reactor system, where each devolatilization vessel operates at a lower pressure than the preceding devolatilization vessel; and a heat exchanger disposed between two devolatilization vessels and in fluid communication with them, where the heat exchanger has an inlet port temperature of 100&#xb0; C. to 230&#xb0; C., an outlet port temperature of 200&#xb0; C. to 300&#xb0; C., an inlet port pressure of 35 to 250 kgf/cmand an outlet port pressure of 20 to 200 kgf/cm; and wherein the polymer solution remains in a single phase during its residence in the heat exchanger.

Method and system for polymer production

A solution polymerization process for producing ethylene-based polymer includes introducing ethylene monomer, hydrocarbon solvent, and Ziegler-Natta catalyst into an entrance of a solution polymerization reactor. An ethylene-based polymer is produced by solution polymerizing the ethylene monomer in hydrocarbon solvent. Subsequently, a catalyst deactivator is introduced into x the exit of the solution polymerization reactor, thereby producing hydrochloric acid byproduct. The catalyst deactivator includes long chain carboxylate and at least one cation selected from Groups 1, 2, and 12 of the IUPAC periodic table, with the exception of calcium. The catalyst deactivator reduces the effectiveness of the Ziegler-Natta catalyst and neutralizes the hydrochloric acid by forming a chloride salt other than calcium chloride.

Disclosed herein is a method for reducing isomerization during the copolymerization of ethylene with an &#x3b1;-olefin comprising adding to a reactor a reaction mixture comprising hydrogen, ethylene, an &#x3b1;-olefin, a solvent and a catalyst; where the catalyst does not include a chain shuttling agent that comprises dialkyl zinc; heating the reactor to a first temperature to react the ethylene with the &#x3b1;-olefin to form a copolymer; discharging from the reactor a first product stream to a heat exchanger; where the product stream comprises the copolymer; adding to the product stream prior to the heat exchanger a first additive that is operative to reduce isomerization of the &#x3b1;-olefin; and discharging from the heat exchanger a second product stream.

Method for isomer reduction during polymerization and system for accomplishing the same

A process to prepare an ethylene-based polymer, said process comprising polymerizing a mixture comprising ethylene, at a pressure greater than, or equal to, 100 MPa, in the presence of at least one free-radical initiator; and in a reactor system comprising at least one reactor and at least one Hyper-compressor, and wherein at least one oil formulation, optionally comprising one or more lubrication agents, is added to the Hyper-compressor; and wherein at least one of the following steps takes place: A) thermally treating the one or more lubrication agents, in an oxygen-free atmosphere, to achieve a peroxide level &#x2264;10 ppm, based on the weight of the lubrication agent(s), and then adding said agent(s) to the oil formulation, prior to adding the oil formulation to the Hyper-compressor; or B) thermally treating the oil formulation, in an oxygen-free atmosphere, to achieve a peroxide level &#x2264;10 ppm, based on the weight of the oil formulation, prior to adding the oil formulation to the Hyper-compressor; C) a combination of A and B.

Lubricant treatments for free-radical polymerizations

Functionalized ethylene-based polymers are prepared by a process comprising the step of reacting a first composition comprising an ethylene-based polymer with at least the following: (A) at least one carbon-carbon (C&#x2014;C) free radical initiator of Structure I: wherein R, R, R, R, Rand Rare each, independently, hydrogen or a hydrocarbyl group; and wherein, optionally, two or more R groups (R, R, R, R, Rand R) form a ring structure; and with the provisos that (i) at least one of Rand Ris a hydrocarbyl group of at least two carbon atoms, and (ii) at least one of Rand Ris a hydrocarbyl group of at least two carbon atoms; and (B) at least one free radical initiator other than the carbon-carbon (C&#x2014;C) free radical initiator of Structure I (a non-C&#x2014;C free radical initiator), e.g., a peroxide; and (C) at least one functionalization agent, e.g., maleic anhydride. 

Process for producing functionalized ethylene-based polymers with a low gel content

A process to form an ethylene-based polymer comprises polymerizing a reaction mixture comprising ethylene, at least one symmetrical polyene and at least one chain transfer agent system comprising at least one chain transfer agent (CTA) in the presence of at least one free-radical initiator and in a reactor configuration comprising at least two reaction zones, reaction zone 1 and reaction zone i (i&#x2265;2), wherein reaction zone i is downstream from reaction zone 1. The ratio of 'the activity of the CTA system of the feed to the first reaction zone' to the 'activity of the CTA system of the cumulative feed to the reaction zone i,' (Z/Z), is less than or equal to (0.8&#x2212;0.2*log(Cs)), wherein Cs is from 0.0001 to 10.

Process to make tubular ethylene based polymers with high G' and broad MWD

A composition comprising an ethylene-based polymer is made by a process comprising the steps of: (A) contacting under first polymerization conditions at least ethylene and at least one molecular catalyst to form a first ethylene-based polymer, and (B) contacting under second polymerization conditions the first ethylene-based polymer of (A) with at least additional ethylene and a carbon-carbon free radical initiator of Structure (I): wherein R, R, R, R, Rand Rare each, independently, hydrogen or a hydrocarbyl group and wherein, optionally, two or more R groups (R, R, R, R, Rand R) form a ring structure, with the proviso that at least one of Rand R, and at least one of Rand Ris a hydrocarbyl group of at least two carbon atoms, to form the composition.

Process for making ethylene-based polymers using carbon-carbon free radical initiators

A process to form an ethylene-based polymer comprises polymerizing a reaction mixture comprising ethylene, at least one monomeric chain transfer agent, and at least one chain transfer agent system comprising at least one chain transfer agent (CTA) in the presence of at least one free-radical initiator and in a reactor configuration comprising at least two reaction zones, reaction zone 1 and reaction zone i (i&#x2265;2), wherein the reaction zone i is downstream from reaction zone 1.
