A lift axle suspension system incorporating a lift paddle is disclosed. The lift paddle comprising a first pad, a second pad and a rigid support arm securing the first pad and the second pad in fixed relation to one another. The first pad is attached to a lift spring, the second pad is secured to the bottom surface of the main support member/leaf spring. Actuation of the lift spring causes the axle to be lifted out of contact with the ground surface.

Lift axle suspension systems with lift paddle

A clamp group mounting of a leaf spring to a round axle including alignment features is disclosed, which includes a round axle, a leaf spring and a clamp group connecting the leaf spring to a laterally extending axle. A locator ring is welded to an upper arcuate surface of the axle and is received in a recess in a spring seat. The clamp group includes the spring seat, a top pad and a plurality of fasteners that connect the top pad, leaf spring, and spring seat to the axle. The leaf spring extends longitudinally and at least forward or rearward relative to the axle, and includes a bore that receives a locator element that extends at least upward or downward from the leaf spring.

An axle/suspension system for a heavy-duty vehicle with a pair of suspension assemblies which each are mounted on a hanger outboardly offset from the outboard surface of the vehicle main member from which it depends. Each suspension assembly includes a beam pivotally attached to the hanger outboardly offset from the outboard surface of the main member. The beam has a tapered profile including an upward outboard taper on at least the inboard side of the beam, which provides clearance between each beam and its respective vehicle main member during upward jounce travel or lifting of the axle/suspension system.

Tapered axle/suspension system beam for heavy-duty vehicles

An automatic air suspension control system is provided for use in combination with a vehicle having a liftable non-driven rear axle, a driven rear axle, a parking brake, and an air suspension associated with the rear axles to apply a load to the rear axles. The air suspension control system is programmed to determine whether the rear axles are subject to a load condition under which the non-driven rear axle is to be moved between lifted and deployed conditions. If the rear axles are subject to a load condition under which the non-driven rear axle is to be moved, the air suspension control system also determines whether the parking brake is engaged. If the parking brake is disengaged, then the air suspension control system causes the non-driven rear axle to be moved; otherwise, if the parking brake is engaged, then the non-driven rear axle is prevented from moving.
