The methods and devices of the various aspects provide a visual indication in a graphical user interface that a document boundary is or will soon be reached, and a mechanism for wrapping the list on the display so that it appears to snap to the other end of the list (i.e., from beginning to end if scrolling up, or end to beginning if scrolling down) when sufficient user input is applied. The displayed snap to the end or beginning of the list may also be implemented in response to a momentum list scroll initiated by a flick gesture when the momentum scroll would otherwise scroll the list a threshold distance beyond a list boundary.

Method and apparatus for intuitive wrapping of lists in a user interface

The various embodiments provide systems, devices, and methods which optimize the way in which data is delivered between devices a group of interconnected devices. In one embodiment a data set intended for multiple devices may be segmented and different portions of the data set may be provided to each device. The intended devices may then share their data set portions to recreate the complete data set on each device. In another embodiment, multiple devices each storing a complete data set may need to upload the complete data set to a single device. The multiple devices may assign upload responsibility for segments of the complete data set among each other, and the multiple devices may each upload their assigned segments to the single device. The single device may then combine the segments to recreate the complete data set.

A method and system for providing context dependent pop-up menu icons that activate menu icons in response to a select & drag operation by manipulation of a pointing device. Presented icons may correspond to functions or actions that can be implemented with the particular type of content selected. Icons may be displayed in a consistent manner in terms of position and content with respect to the selected file or object. Icons may appear only during a select & drag operation, thereby leaving the display uncluttered at other times. Presentation of icons may be discontinued when the selected file or object is dragged beyond the area of the presented icons. New applications can register with the operating system to specify icons to be presented when corresponding files are selected or when particular content objects are selected within the application.

Method and system for context dependent pop-up menus

Methods and devices enable rendering of graphic images at a minimum frame rate even when processing resource limitations and rendering processing may not support the minimum frame rate presentation. While graphics are being rendered, a processor of a computing device may monitor the achieved frame rate. If the frame rate falls below a minimum threshold, the processor may note a current speed or rate of movement of the image and begin rendering less computationally complex graphic items. Rendering of less computationally complex items continues until the processor notes that the speed of rendered items is less than the noted speed. At this point, normal graphical rendering may be recommenced. The aspects may be applied to more than one type of less computationally complex item or rendering format. The various aspects may be applied to a wide variety of animations and moving graphics, as well as scrolling text, webpages, etc.

Graphics rendering methods for satisfying minimum frame rate requirements

A method and system for electronic access security uses touches and movements on a touch sensitive surface to determine graphical passcode that are used in a manner similar to passwords. Graphical passcodes comprise various combinations of swipes, taps or drags on a touchscreen surface as defined by a user. A user's selected graphical passcode is stored in memory for comparison to subsequent entries of graphical passcode in order to authenticate the users. An envelope may be generated to define a range of acceptable pressure, speed, coordinate positions or other parameters, as a function of time or position, required for passcode authentication. The envelope may be stored in a computer memory and is used to authenticate a user by determine whether an entered graphical passcode falls within the envelope.

Method and system for graphical passcode security

Methods and devices provide a user interface that provides visual cues when a document pan or scroll has reached an end or boundary by distorting the document image in response to further user inputs. The image distortion functionality may include shrinking, stretching, accordion expansion, or bouncing of a document image. The degree of image distortion may be proportional to the distance that a user input would have the document move beyond the encountered boundary. When a boundary of a document image is reached during a rapid pan or scroll, a bouncing image distortion may be applied to the document image to inform the user that the document reached a boundary during the movement.

Content boundary signaling techniques

Methods and systems for transcribing portions of a telephone conversation to text enables users to request transcription such as by pressing a button on a mobile device, with the request transmitted to a server including transcription software. The server transcribes some or all of the telephone conversation to text, and transmits the text to the mobile device. The text data may be scanned for selected information, and only the selected information transmitted to the mobile device. The selected information may be automatically stored in memory of the mobile device, such as in an address book.

A method of processing location data at a portable computing device is provided and includes receiving information associated with a user defined location at the portable computing device. The information includes a central point and an entry indication perimeter. An entry alert associated with the user defined location is received at the portable computing device. The location of the portable computing device is monitored to determine when the portable computing device crosses the entry indication perimeter associated with the central point of the user defined location indicating that the portable computing device is proximate to the user defined location. The method further includes switching the portable computing device from a roaming state to an entry state indicating that the portable computing device is about to enter the user defined location. An indication can be provided to the user that the portable computing device has switched to the entry state.

System and method for indicating reminders via a portable computing device

Community based purchasing methods and apparatus for products/services may include accumulating micro payments from a plurality of mobile buyers equipped with wireless communication devices. A seller, upon notification of accumulation of a predetermined total of micro payments, may then deliver the product/service. Payment by a mobile user may be escrowed upon receipt of the micro payment and be released to the seller upon delivery of the product/service. Product/services purchased using community based purchasing methods and apparatus may include digital content streamed to a buyer's wireless communication device and live performances viewed directly by the buyer.
