Automatic tensioning tool for a belt of a printing device

A print management service facilitates the secure exchange of print job information between a client who requests a print job and multiple candidates who may wish to bid on the job. The service generates a smart contract that includes some information about the print job but that omits other information, such as the content to be printed. When a print service provider submits a qualifying bid to a processor that executes the smart contract, the smart contract will award the job to that provider, and the print service provider will then receive access to the full content of the print job. The smart contract may require proof of work to trigger payment from the client to the service provider upon completion of the print job.

Method and system for securely exchanging print job information

A capping station is configured for storing printheads during printer inactivity to preserve the viscosity of the ink in the nozzles of the printheads. Each capping station has a receptacle, a vacuum source, a transducer, and a valve in an opening in a floor of the receptacle. A controller is operatively connected to actuators to move the receptacle so a seal on an upper wall of the receptacle engages a printhead housing. The controller also operates the valve to close the opening in the receptacle floor and then operates the vacuum source to establish a negative pressure in the volume within the receptacle. The transducer is then operated by the controller to fluctuate ink menisci in the nozzles of the printheads to prevent the ink from drying in the nozzles.

System and method for attenuating the drying of ink from a printhead during periods of printer inactivity

A capping station is configured for storing printheads during printer inactivity to preserve the viscosity of the ink in the nozzles of the printheads. Each capping station has a receptacle, a planar member having a shaft that moves bidirectionally within an opening in a floor of the receptacle, a source of cleaning fluid, and a vacuum source. A controller is operatively connected to actuators to move the receptacle so a seal on an upper wall of the receptacle engages a printhead housing and to move the planar member within the receptacle. The controller also operates a pump to move cleaning fluid through the receptacle and to operate the vacuum source to pull ink from the nozzles of a printhead to the faceplate of the printhead. The planar member is moved proximate the faceplate so the ink forms a film that preserves the viscosity of the ink in the nozzles.
