A bone fixation clamp includes a first arcuate clamp member conforming to a shape of a bone and extending between a first connection end and a first free end, a second arcuate clamp member conforming to a shape of the bone, a second connection end of the second clamp member being pivotally attached to the first clamp member, the second clamp member extending between the second connection end and a second free end and a driving member received in the first clamp member passing out of the first clamp member to abut an abutment portion of the second member so that, as the driving member is extended further out of the first member, the driving member pivots the second clamp member relative to the first clamp member to draw the first and second free ends toward one another to apply a radially compressive force to the bone.

Bone fracture fixation clamp

A system is provided for inserting and securing, through a suprapatellar region of a leg, a nail into a medullary canal of a bone. The system can include a flexible sleeve configured to be partially inserted in the leg. The flexible sleeve can define a leading end and a trailing end spaced apart from the leading end along a first axis. The flexible sleeve can define a first cannulation that extends along the first axis between the leading and trailing ends. The first cannulation can be sized to receive therethrough at least the intramedullary nail. The system can further include a retaining member configured support at least a portion of the flexible sleeve. The retaining member can be configured to position the flexible sleeve through the suprapatellar region of the leg such that the flexible sleeve leading end is aligned with the proximal end of the bone. The intramedullary nail can be insertable through the flexible sleeve and into the medullary canal.

Suprapatellar insertion system, kit and method

A device for drilling a hole in bone and for inserting bone screws into the drilled hole is provided. The device comprises a trocar, drill sleeve and protection sleeve in a telescopically nested configuration. The drill sleeve and protection sleeve may have an axial locking feature that allows the two pieces to be handled together as a unit by preventing inadvertent separation. The axial locking feature may comprise an integral annular ridge provided on one sleeve that cooperates with an annular groove provided on the other sleeve. One sleeve may also have at least one slot allowing the locking feature to be disengaged prior to separation of the sleeves. The sleeves may be easily separated with one hand by the user by the application of an axial separation force between a pair of flanges provided with the sleeves, and by a radial compression force applied to at least a portion of the drill sleeve.

An interlock driving instrument is configured to be releasably lockable to a fastener, such as a bone anchor. A bone anchor can be locked to the interlock driving instrument by inserting an expandable distal end of the shaft of the interlock driving instrument into the driving opening of the bone anchor and expanding the distal end within the driving opening by translating an expansion member into the expandable distal end. Alternatively, the bone anchor can be locked to the interlock driving instrument by inserting the distal end of the shaft of the interlock driving instrument into the driving opening of the bone anchor and translating a sliding member along a sloped surface defined in a channel extending into the shaft.

An implant assembly device for use in inserting a bone fixation implant includes: (a) a handle portion for manipulation by a user and (b) a shaft having a proximal end and a distal end. The proximal end of the shaft connected to the handle portion. The distal end of the shaft includes a screw engaging portion configured and adapted to engage and rotate a connecting screw. The device also includes (c) an elongated rod extended through the shaft from a proximal end to a distal end thereof The proximal end of the elongated rod is non-movably coupled to the shaft and the distal end of the elongated rod extending distally past of the distal end of the shaft. The elongated rod is configured and dimensioned to simultaneously pass through an interior portion of, and support, an implant insertion handle, the connecting screw and the bone fixation implant.

Implant assembly device

This invention relates generally to systems for the internal fixation of bone fractures, and particularly, to equipment associated with the insertion of intramedullary fracture fixation devices such as those used in the treatment of long bone fractures, such as for example fractures of the femur, tibia, humerus, etc. An implant assembly device of the present invention may comprise a handle, a shaft with a first end and a second end, and an elongated rod extending from the shaft. The first end of the shaft is connected to the handle and the second end of the shaft is configured to engage the head of a connecting screw. The device can be held with one hand while the various components are placed one by one into their proper position onto the rod, leaving the other hand free to manipulate the other components.
