Aspects of connected phrase search queries and titles are described. In one embodiment, a phrase in a search string may be identified with reference to a compilation data store. The compilation data store may include various collaborative, taxonomy, and brand name data, for example. After a phrase is identified in the search string, a search query may be generated based on the phrase. For example, a catalog of items may be queried to generate a query result, and the query result may be parsed for display to a user. In various embodiments, a plurality of phrases may be identified in a search string, and a plurality of search queries may be generated based on combinations of the phrases. In this manner, more search results may be obtained, especially for constrained search strings. The identification of phrases may also be applied to generate variations on titles, in certain embodiments.

Techniques for determining and providing a preferred layout of a network page may be provided. For example, the system may receive a query with a keyword, access data regarding previous users' interactions associated with the results of the keyword, determine a category associated with the interactions, and provide a display (e.g., on the original network page) for that particular category. In some examples, the system may provide generic network pages and item- or category-specific network pages associated with a particular layout or presentation characteristics. The system can identify the presentation characteristics of the category-specific network page and incorporate them with the generic network page, without redirecting the user to the category-specific network page.

Techniques are provided for measuring user-perceived client-side performance of network documents. Client-side performance data associated with a network document can be collected during the loading of the network document by a web browser of a client device, for example, by a browser-executable script. The collected performance data may include latency information respectively associated with a plurality of digital assets configured to be rendered by the network document. A subset of the collected performance data can be selectively provided. The selectively provided performance data may be associated with a subset of the plurality of digital assets that are configured to be rendered within an active portion of the network document. The active portion of the network document may indicate a current area of interest for a user of the client device such as a viewport. The selectively provided performance data may be used to improve user-perceived performance at the client device.

Disclosed are various embodiments for navigating a taxonomy using search queries. An unstructured search query is parsed in order to identify one or more categories of a taxonomy of a collection of items. Each one of the one or more categories is associated with a confidence score. When the confidence score meets a threshold, a pool of items is selected from a respective one of the one or more categories. When no confidence score meets the threshold, the pool of items is selected from the collection of items.

Navigating a taxonomy using search queries

Effective color-aware search of a collection of content associated with one or more images is enabled. Content and/or its associated images may be automatically associated with representative palette colors in a suite of color palettes. Color palettes may be of a variety of types and have a hierarchical structure in which lower levels enable increasingly subtle distinctions between shades of color. Color palette hierarchies may be effectively presented, and appropriate portions emphasized based on associated search result sets. Search result sets may be refined and/or reordered in accordance with color palette selections and/or representative confidences of color palette selections for items at least referenced therein.
