Flexible paddle cards for installation on a motherboard of a computing system are disclosed that are oriented parallel with the motherboard when installed in the computing system and include: a printed circuit board; and three card connectors that correspond to three motherboard connectors mounted on the motherboard, two of the card connectors mounted on a first rigid region of the printed circuit board, the remaining third card connector mounted on a second rigid region of the printed circuit board, and the first rigid region and the second rigid region separated by a flexible region of the printed circuit board, the flexible region having a width that allows the printed circuit board to flex when the card connectors mate with the motherboard connectors.

The disclosed device is directed towards an electromagnetic compatibility clip comprising a body having a first side and a second side opposite the first side. The first side is configured to contact a top surface of a chassis separator and a bottom surface of the chassis separator. The second side of the body is configured to contact a lower module mounted on the lower surface of the chassis separator. The body is configured to maintain electrical contact between the chassis separator, the upper module and the lower module. A locking portion is defined in the body. The locking portion is configured to interlock with the chassis separator. A compression force control element is defined in the body. At least one spring contact is defined in the body.

A card-receiving connector includes a legacy connector part and an additional connector part that facilitates plugging in cards having improved functionality while also allowing legacy cards to be plugged in. In one embodiment, the legacy part includes signal, power, and supply contacts required by a legacy card and includes power and supply contacts required by an improved card in an extension part. A legacy card can be connected to the legacy part without interference from the extension part to facilitate backward compatibility with the legacy card.

A loose type battery cell detection method and apparatus controls a battery charging circuit so as to disable recharging when loose battery cells are detected. A battery contact is disposed adjacent to a battery power source. If the battery power source is loose battery cells, the battery contact operatively engages the loose battery cells such that an electrical path is created from one loose battery cell to another via the battery contact. If the battery power source is a rechargeable battery pack, no electrical path between the battery power source and the battery contact is created. A battery detection circuit monitors the battery contact for an electrical signal, such as a voltage or current level above zero. While the electrical signal is detected, the battery detection circuit directly or indirectly causes the battery recharge function of the battery charging circuit of the recharging device to be disabled.
