A catheter shaft with an improved manifold bond and methods for making and using the same. The catheter shaft may include a sleeve disposed, for example, near its proximal end. The sleeve may include a first layer that is attached to the catheter shaft and a second layer to which a hub or manifold may be attached.

An elongate medical device includes an elongate core and a substantially flat sheet formed into a tubular body defining a longitudinal axis and disposed around at least a portion of the elongate core, where the flat sheet has a length, and where a cross-sectional thickness of the sheet varies along the length of the sheet. The tubular body has proximal and distal portions, and a cross-sectional thickness of the sheet forming the distal portion of the tubular body may be less than a cross-sectional thickness of the sheet forming the proximal portion of the tubular body. A cross-sectional thickness of the sheet forming the tubular body preferably tapers from the proximal portion to the distal portion.

A microcatheter having a guidewire port that is positioned proximal of the distal end of the microcatheter in order to provide rapid exchange capability. The guidewire port includes provisions that permit guidewire access into a lumen of the microcatheter while providing a relatively fluid tight seal at least when the guidewire is not present in the guidewire port.

Catheters having a pre-shaped tip configuration are disclosed. A catheter in accordance with an illustrative embodiment of the present invention can include an elongated tubular shaft equipped with a distal tip section having a pre-shaped tip configuration that can be used to facilitate tracking of the device through particular locations of the vasculature. The catheter may include a number of features that transition the stiffness and flexibility characteristics of the device and provide a means to radiographically visualize the catheter within the body.

A self-expanding stent delivery assembly includes an elongate member with a proximal region and a distal region. The distal region has an outer tubular member. A self-expanding stent is disposed within the outer tubular member. Circumferential movement of at least a portion of the proximal region causes relative axial movement between the self-expanding stent and the outer tubular member, deploying the stent. Methods of deploying a self-expanding stent are also described.
