A system and method for private text chatting. A request is sent to a remote device to establish a private text chat session. Prior to receiving an acceptance of the private chat session request from the remote device, at least one text chat message is received from the remote device and stored. The acceptance of the private chat session request is received from the remote device. Subsequent to receiving the acceptance of the private chat session request, a private text chat session interface is displayed to conduct the private text chat session. The received at least one text chat message is displayed in the private text chat session interface.

Private text chatting sessions

A system and method for private text chatting. A request to a remote device to establish a private text chat session is either sent or received. Based on the sending or receiving, an acceptance from the remote device accepting the request is received. Based on the sending or receiving, a separate user interface to conduct the private text chat session is presented. Private text chat messages are exchanged in association with the private text chat session based on and subsequent to the receiving and the presenting.

A system method are provided for enabling private messaging. The method comprises displaying a first messaging user interface with at least one contact, the first messaging user interface comprising at least one element identifying messaging participants; detecting a first input at the first messaging user interface, to enter a private conversation with the at least one contact; and displaying a second messaging user interface, the second messaging user interface modifying the at least one element to conceal an identity of at least one messaging participant in the second messaging user interface.

System and method for conducting private messaging

A system and method are provided to organize updates on a mobile device. The organization of the updates can be controlled according to something detectable on the mobile device which can be correlated to something detectable in the updates. For example, updates to be displayed on the mobile device can be organized based on context provided by the mobile device, such that more relevant updates are distinguishable from those that may be less relevant. In this way, all updates are accessible to the user, but those that are deemed to be particularly relevant may be more visible and more easily accessed to avoid the need to sort through or scroll through large lists of new updates.

System and method for controlling updates on a mobile device

A system or method that incorporates teachings of the subject disclosure may include, for example, detecting a predetermined motion profile during a chat mode with a remote communication device and sending a ping signal to the remote receiving device in response to detecting the predetermined motion profile. Other embodiments are disclosed.
