A system and method for determining a rate of flow of an output from a vessel. The system includes a vessel having an inlet for receiving an output produced by an output generation device, and a measuring device for measuring a first pressure and a second pressure in the vessel. The first pressure is measured when the output generation device is in a standby mode and the second pressure is measured when the output generation device is in an operational mode. The system includes a programmable logic controller configured to calculate a rate of flow of the output utilizing the first pressure and the second pressure.

Method and system for measuring a rate of flow of an output

A system and method is presented for reducing a concentration of ambient air used in a feed stream to form an inerting gas in a pressure swing adsorption system. The method includes introducing ambient air into a pressure swing adsorption system to form an inerting gas, introducing the inerting gas to a large volume of atmosphere, thereby inerting at least a portion of the large volume of atmosphere to form an inerted atmosphere, and removing a portion of the inerted atmosphere and introducing the portion of inerted atmosphere to the pressure swing adsorption system to form the inerting gas, thereby reducing an amount of ambient air utilized to form the inerting gas in the pressure swing adsorption system.

Process and apparatus for providing an inert gas to a large volume atmosphere

A gas separation vessel has a vessel shell and a partition therein. A first bed support is mounted between the partition and the shell, and a second bed support is mounted within the partition to define a second bed space. First and second ports on the vessel shell beneath the bed supports permit gas flow between the bed spaces and the exterior of the vessel shell. A separation medium is placed in the bed spaces. A feed gas is introduced into the vessel to flow through the first bed and then through the second bed to separate at least one component of the feed gas from the other intermixed gases. Output gas is then collected from the vessel. The vessel may have a L:D ratio of not more than 4:1.

A method of autonomously sharing a load between at least two output generation devices, the method including: providing at least two output generation devices, wherein the at least two output generation devices operate autonomously with respect to one another and the at least two output generation devices are in fluid communication with output receiving means adapted to receive output generated by the at least two output generation devices; monitoring output generated by the output generation devices; and cycling each of the at least two devices through an activated mode and a standby mode independently of one another in an automated manner to meet an output demand thereby sharing a load demand between the at least two output generation devices.

Method and system for autonomous load sharing

A method for operating a fuel cell power plant to supply power to an internal load and an external load, includes the steps of evaluating power needs of the internal and external loads to determine a fixed IDC value sufficient to supply the needs; providing auxiliary power to the internal load and output power to the external load so as to maintain operation of the fuel cell power plant at the fixed IDC value; and adjusting at least one of the auxiliary power to the internal load and output power to the external load so as to maintain operation of the fuel cell power plant at the fixed IDC value. Operation within a preselected voltage range is also provided.
