Each type of metal component part for two or more watch designs can be derived from instances of that corresponding type of MIM blank for that component part, which is formed from a same injection molding tool (respectively for each type of component part). An example instance of the MIM blank formed for a type of component part then has at least a portion of the instance of the MIM blank subtracted through a CNC milling process to form an interim shape and geometry of an instance of the type of component part for a given watch design. The CNC milling process can be applied to the MIM blank for that component part when the MIM blank is in its interim shape and geometry and has not yet been hardened to a finished shape and geometry of an instance of that type of component part for the watch design.

Subtractive manufacturing of an oversized MIM blank

A caseback has multiple, arc-shaped, ferrous, metal contacts that serve a dual purpose. The metal contacts i) establish an input connection between a battery for the wearable electronic device and charging prongs of a charger and ii) establish a magnetic coupling between the wearable electronic device and multiple magnets in the charger to hold the metal contacts of the wearable electronic device and the charging prongs of the charger in place during a charging of the battery. A male extension extends from a surface of the caseback to couple into a female receptor of the charger. i) The ferrous metal contacts' relationship with a positioning of the magnetics in the charger in combination with ii) the male extension coupling into the female receptor use magnetic and mechanical coupling to establish and control an alignment of the metal contacts with the charging prongs in three dimensions, a Z-axis, an X-axis, and a Y-axis.

A wearable electronic device is discussed. The device has a housing and a processor in the housing. The processor can enable the wearer of the device to select different operations from an onscreen display. The device also has a communication circuit in the housing to transmit wirelessly to another device cooperating with the electronic device. The device has a microphone hole penetrating the housing to a microphone, a microphone seal component, and a waterproof material in the housing. The microphone seal component has channels and when compressed against the waterproof material can i) allow sound waves in air to pass through to the microphone inside the housing behind the waterproof material and the microphone seal component, ii) form a water tight seal for the microphone hole penetrating the housing, and iii) provide an air pressure equalization mechanism between internal pressure inside the housing and atmospheric pressure external to the housing.

A first sensor may be configured to measure a sensed amount of a physiological parameter and to generate a first signal based on the sensed amount of the physiological parameter measured by the first sensor. A second sensor may be configured to measure a temperature and to generate a second signal based on the temperate measured by the second sensor. A housing may have heat-generating electronics including a processor that may be configured to determine an overall amount of the physiological parameter based on the first signal generated from the first sensor and the second signal generated from the second sensor. The second sensor may be thermally insulated from the heat-generating electronics.

Ambient temperature sensor systems and methods

A stand assembly for a computing device is provided. The stand assembly includes a stand and a coupling mechanism to couple the stand to a rear face of the computing device. The coupling mechanism is structured to enable the stand to be moved under bias into multiple positions, including a first position in which the stand extends outward from the rear face at a first angle and retains the computing device upright at a first orientation, and a second position in which the stand extends outward from the rear face at a second angle and retains the computing device upright at a second orientation. The coupling mechanism is structured to return the stand, from at least each of the first position and the second position, into a closed position that abuts the rear face of the computing device when the coupling mechanism is relaxed.
