Antifreezes are provided for deployment in wet sprinkler systems located in cold environments. The antifreezes allow for the wet sprinkler system to be actuated under temperatures below 32° F. Wet sprinklers, sprinkler systems, methods of providing for the control, suppression and/or extinguishment of a fire that occur in a cold environment, and methods of preventing wet sprinklers from freezing also are provided. The sprinklers, sprinkler systems and methods can be used in residential, commercial and storage settings.

Fire protection system and methods for concealed spaces providing for effective fire protection over an effective depth range measuring from a minimum six inches up to a maximum that is greater than thirty-six inches. A combustible concealed space that includes an upper deck and a ceiling deck spaced about a longitudinal axis extending substantially parallel to the ceiling deck with a fire protection system having a firefighting fluid supply pipe and at least one automatic upright sprinkler coupled to the fluid supply pipe and positioned to define an effective depth range that measures from six inches to a maximum of at least sixty inches.

The system comprising a plurality of fluid distribution devices disposed in a grid pattern beneath a ceiling and above the storage structure. The plurality of fluid distribution devices comprising a frame body, seal assembly and actuator. The system further comprising a fluid distribution system including a network of pipes interconnecting the plurality of fluid distribution devices with a water supply. The system further comprising a plurality of detectors to monitor the storage structure for a fire. The system further comprising a controller coupled with the plurality of detectors to detect and locate the fire, and coupled with the plurality of fluid distribution devices to identify and control operation of a select number of the plurality of fluid distribution devices that define a discharge array above and about the fire.

A fire exposure protection sprinkler assembly provides fire exposure protection for one or more windows and includes a fire exposure protection sprinkler, a sealing assembly configured to unseal in response to a fire such that fire exposure protection fluid may flow from the fire exposure protection sprinkler, and a housing having a pair of legs, with each of the legs having an aperture. The assembly also includes a deflection assembly configured to extend from the housing due to gravity and activation of a cover plate, with a deflector configured to disperse the fire exposure protection fluid over the one or more windows so as to wet the one or more windows.

The fire exposure protection sprinkler includes a body coupled to the fluid supply line and configured to receive the fire exposure protection fluid, a sealing assembly configured to unseal in response to a fire such that fire exposure protection fluid may flow, a housing having a pair of legs arranged opposite the housing of each other and having an aperture, and a deflection assembly having a pair of guide pins coupled to a deflector and the housing and disposed within each of the apertures of the legs, wherein the deflection assembly is configured to extend from the housing, wherein the deflection assembly is configured to receive the flow of the fire exposure protection fluid while extending from the housing.

A fluid control thermal detection device is located above a ceiling base and one or more open fluid distribution devices are disposed, spaced and connected to the fluid control thermal detection device for receipt of firefighting fluid from the fluid control thermal detection device to protect the attic space with a desired fluid density and total system flow demand.

Sectional fire protection for attic spaces

Sectional fire protection systems and methods for the protection of an attic space are provided. A fluid control thermal detection device is located above a ceiling base within a spherical radial distance proximate a peak region of the attic space. An open fluid distribution device is disposed between the roof deck and the ceiling base and connected to the fluid control thermal detection device for receipt of firefighting fluid from the fluid control thermal detection device.
