Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a method, system, and computer program product for exception handling. In some embodiments, a method is disclosed. According to the method, in response to an application throwing an exception, a target stack frame for handling the exception is detected from a call stack of the application. The call stack comprises a plurality of stack frames. One of the plurality of stack frames corresponds to a function called by the application and supports either a one-phase exception handling mechanism or a two-phase exception handling mechanism. In response to the target stack frame being detected from the call stack, the target stack frame is caused to handle the exception. In other embodiments, a system and a computer program product are disclosed.

Exception handling

One or more processors determine whether a first procedure within a first program meets a first criterion. The first criterion is included in a plurality of criteria that are configured for pessimistic aliasing. Responsive to the determination, one or more processors determine whether to flag the first procedure for pessimistic aliasing.

Method for defining alias sets

An illustrative embodiment provides a computer-implemented method for an alternate type system for optimizing the evaluation and use of meta-template instantiations. The computer-implemented method obtains a source code, instantiates an element of the source code to form an instantiated element and identifies a meta-template within the instantiated element to form an identified meta-template. The computer-implemented method creates an entry for the identified meta-template in a first data structure, wherein the entry comprises a set of mapped entries, creates an associated entry in a second data structure linked to the entry comprising the set of mapped entries, wherein the associated entry represents the set of mapped entries, and uses the associated entry of the second data structure in combination with the entry of the first data structure.

Optimization of meta-template instantiations

A compiler generated static analysis of potential aliasing violations in a portion of code that is not in the current program view of the analysis. Source code in a current program view of the program code is processed to collect symbol definitions. The possible destinations of each symbol definition are computed. The set of symbol definitions in the current program view of the code that are accessible to the portion of the program code outside the current program view is evaluated. Each symbol definition is diagnosed based on the type of the symbol defined and the symbols which may be pointed-to by the symbol definitions.

Diagnosing aliasing violations in a partial program view

A computer implemented method, apparatus, and computer usable program code for facilitating debugging of source code. A set of indirect memory references is identified in the source code and points-to records are generated for the source code. The set of indirect memory references are validated using the points-to records and an aliasing rule to identify zero or more indirect memory references having a potential aliasing problem. In a case in which the zero or more indirect memory references comprise at least one indirect memory reference, the at least one indirect memory reference is in the set of indirect memory references. Responsive to a determination that the zero or more indirect memory references comprise at least one indirect memory reference, a report is generated identifying at least one location in the source code associated with the at least one indirect memory reference. The report is stored.
